The books is rather short (about 80 pages) and reading is tedious due to a vast amount of spelling / editing errors. Words and words groups are often repeated, strange stuff like "Predicted framed frames (P-frames)" and similar patterns: "slices make up frameP frames, Which come in several different types." Almost every page contains at least one error, some a lot more. It seems like this book has never been proof-read even though this is the second edition. The information itself is correct as far as I can tell and Provides a good overview of how MPEG video system work. The most important topics are covered but you will not be able to, say, write a decoder after reading this book without much more detailed references. It's more about giving an overview of the concepts involved rather than explaining the gory details.
