Simple mechanics wants to be treated with feeling. The simple design makes the quick-release plate more robust in use. I use the plates for one year and have never had any major problems with it. All my cameras and tripods are fitted in between them. In spite of all my praise I have deducted a star because once the camera plate fits to the lower part in only one direction and because the underside of the lever is higher than in the middle. As a result that does not readily possible during assembly on a support base which is greater than the quick-release plate itself.
