Reviewed here is the Opinel knife 254052, Size 8, stainless, Olive wood.
I can at this point I just have to say: My father has his Opinel for years (or Jahrzehten?). From time to reground slightly and maintained after each use, the knife is still regularly in use.
That my Opinel (size 8, handle made from olive wood) also holds so long, I can well imagine. The workmanship is very good - here a knife with the three most necessary features built: blade, blade fuse and a handle. More is needed then not for a pocket knife. However, the Opinel with built corkscrew would for people who go camping or hiking a lot, interesting - it was namely so far with my camping trips always the only problem with my knife ...
The size 8 is super in my hand and also has the correct dimensions for your pocket. Although I previously had no great experience with knives, I say that the blade is very sharp. In some reviews I have read, however, that you have to regrind it regularly to continue to have a sharp edge to be seen.
I think the knife but actually something slightly (my opinion!). Sometimes I am frightened because I did not feel it in your pocket (will be better in the larger Opinels?). It would have offered to drill a hole for a strap on the handle (there is also in other embodiments). That you can drill a hole yourself, I am aware. Probably the focus here is on the beautiful wood?
The blade fuse is as simple as it is innovative and secures the blade in education as in the folded state. However, it is somewhat difficult, but in a sense, is also good (does not dissolve as quickly).
The olive wood handle looks great and feels very comfortable. I am lucky that in my grasp, among others right next to the Opinel lettering the wood is especially beautiful grown - great!
