Much of this album could fail. World music? When Peter Gabriel is often very drowsy and dull. At MIA, it fits, is cool and interesting. The brightly colored booklet does not contain the complete lyrics, but a pun on Franky goes to Hollywood with Homer Simpson's favorite saying: Welcome to the terror D'oh. There is also an illustration for each song.
The song titles are written in the same font as the logo of Iron Maiden (in the video for Paper Planes enters them Metallica-shirt).
Mango Pickle Down River offers child-Rap and Digeridoos.
Many songs sound like Bollywood and India, to match the Paper Planes was chosen for the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire.
Amazing how well it all adds together! A good 45 minutes of music which makes for a good mood, the horizon extends (at least the musical) and desire awakens: to dance and, in my case, on the first album: Arular [Explicit]
