When stapling the pad lowers so that the brackets are clamped from the bottom with millimeter precision against the paper.
The mechanism is very smooth and stapling as clean as I've seen it on any other device to date. Unlike my old unit, the brackets are not clamped around against the paper but completely flat, what looks good and saves space when stacking. To remove such a clip you will therefore probably have to use a knife, however, a standard staple remover can not put under the millimeter flat fitted bracket.
Garade strikes me that the device is indeed referred to as "flat stapler". Now I know so why.
Conclusion: The best stapler I've ever used.
