So far the only ALiEN Game

There were already etlich attempts to strike from the Alien franchise to the video game market capital. The whole thing is so far unfortunately either mediocre (AVP) or not (Colonial Marines) succeeded.

And although I on Alien hot since the first Ankümdigungen Files isolation was the disappointments of recent years were low. Skepticism overshadowed my anticipation of what looked extremely promising, at least in gameplay videos and screenshots.

Now that Alien: Isolation but a Game of the Year Award clears after another, I simply times conquered and acquired the Game. Never mind also, all for the atmosphere I wanted to have played it.

Well, and then you sit in front of it now, the intro flickers in cruel VHS quality on the screen and on it goes, to the space station Sevastopol, to sift the black box of the Nostromo ... and find out what probably because of this huge freighter Weyland-Yutani Corp has happened, then, at some point, when I was still a child. My name is Amanda, and I'm looking for my mother ... Ellen Ripley.

The atmosphere attracts a fact immediately under her spell. The retro sci-fi look of the end of 70, known from Ridley Scott's original Alien film is implemented impressed awesome. There is a lack of anything really. For this, the original sounds and music drawn from the movie and you feel immediately in a world that is a naturally intrigued, but on the other hand we also know what lurks there.

In Sevastopol arrived we experienced first a Dejavue, one for Dead Space has played: the station appears deserted, ruined, short vor'm collapse and everywhere you will find notes and graffiti that probably must have gone something out of hand. Unfortunately it must be said that the first explorations by the station are indeed exciting, but unfortunately for now not much happened. It comes after a period of time somehow leave before, so between the empty corridors and the body bags.

Then, when the story begins but first really, it will be exciting. Immediately my survival does not depend as in other games of superior firepower, but to watch from my ability to assess the situation, and to sneak. But above all, not to lose your nerve when you once again under my desk sits, while the creature 3m two steps further deigns in all its repulsive beauty of the ceiling. Attack is almost always the worst idea. Or race. Or wait?

The game has a crisp difficulty, some corners even frustrate. But this "Zack! You're dead!" Approach, where you have to avoid any such encounter with the enemy in a platformer, is the thing a desperate real touch. Like that. Alien: Isolation is just not a 3D action game. It is a Schleicher. A hiders. A game where you should try the fighting to go out of the way. For latest when the Xenomorph enters the scene, it is either retire or die decently.

The graphics are of the finest quality. The unbelievable beautiful set design (the dilapidated space station, looking out the window, all the details like small stuff lying around, posters and so on and so on) can be the actual dead space station alive. But technically lot is offered here: atmospheric particle effects, spectacular light and shadow gimmicks and several other visual treats tickle from the atmosphere a few more details out when I know so far it from games like that.

The sound design is merciless! It enhances the atmosphere in's Immeasurable: are my shoes that make noise here so? I Raschel here so? What rumbles as above me in the ceiling around? Breathes there something in the dark? So the noise of Alien: Isolation is great cinema definitely. Those who like creepy, should be put on his headphones and mt walk to the motion at the ready by the flickering lit corridors of Sevastopol. Have fun!

The controller is also very well implemented. Unfortunately, the continuous sticking out from behind cover, which obviously for Keyboard & Mouse not even let himself just implement the gamepad is missing. But otherwise: very precise, fast and intuitive to learn (especially the mouse / keyboard shortcut for example, the hacking of doors or the lock picking.).

While the crafting system works complicated, but is in fact a rather simple puzzle where you just collect the plans for tools and can tinker basis of which then practical things like medikits, noise makers or Molotov cocktails.

Well, and the story? I will not even spoil. Occasionally there are hangers, or you're looking stupid and stupid to give this a terminal, which would advance the story. Or you will for the umpteenth time torn from Alien. Happens. Sometimes the nerves, but in terms of the entire game, which is negligible. It's still always fun to start the game and become the hunted.

Conclusion: as the title already said ... the best Alien Game what we have. Not Found Error - but damn good!
