The machine is heavy and looks solid processed. About a color touch screen is easy to operate, which works very well and comfortably.
The device configuration is done either via the touch screen, or via a web interface, which is very powerful and can adjust a variety of device parameters.
Scanning, copying, printing and faxing, the device can and quite fast. You can read double-sided originals in a single pass through a duplex cut-sheet feeder.
The automatic document feeder is with me pretty "bitchy": creases or different thicknesses papers regularly carry me to jam. Therefore, the document feeder like me only moderately.
Also, the printing unit has a duplex unit, so that the prints can also be produced on both sides in one go.
The device operates on Windows, OS X and Linux, as well as for mobile devices via AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.
Can scan it directly as a PDF in a network drive, ship to a USB stick or scan via email. Searchable PDFs (OCR) is unfortunately only creates a Dell cloud solution, which I did not use for safety reasons (I do not want my prints and scans have in any Internet-Cloud).
Before buying one should deal with the running costs must not miss: the toner cartridges go out quite the money.
Conclusion: All in all I am satisfied with the device for the price. Who prints many pages should pay particular attention to the toner costs.
@ Edit: I have reduced my rating to 3 stars because of the template sheet feeder has proven to be bad design in everyday practical use: he is so vulnerable that you can only partially work with. In particular, machine-folded letter represent an insurmountable problem I'm trying a pension notification (2 A4 pages, double-sided, mechanically seamed) scan. No chance. The template remains every time hang when turning in the catchment and the scanning stops. Even if the template is a little verknickt, especially if the upper left corner is slightly upward, the sheet remains every time depend upon retraction. Manages the collection but, in the template a few degrees each (!) Scanned wrong.
@ Edit2: I've got my vote now reduced to 2 stars, after the device is now managed to screw up an original document at the ADF duplex scanning so and tangled that it was destroyed in an attempt to remove it again. So an unripened scrap.
Well, the alternative, manually fail such documents to scan using the original glass: the FTP timeout can be on max. Set 60 seconds. If you want to thus scan multiple double-sided document, you have to push ahead, otherwise interrupts the scan with a time-out from. For three double pages which no longer enough already. Oh man, what. For a bad design
Conclusion: Those who want to work a lot with the document feeder, should better look for another device.
