Solid device with weaknesses

From a neighbor I had borrowed me a cheap knife chopper and was with the cutting performance really pleased - nice small slices. But with small branches I'm desperate with that thing. Permanent clogged the funnel.

So I needed a different device: the rolling technique I have been looking long and seemed even they are not well suited for thinner branches. So I came up with this knife-roll apparatus.
Several blades are arranged as if on a roller press the shredded material to an aluminum plate and cut and crush it.

For me this was the killer feature: The self-closing mechanism.
And it works pretty easily: As a rule, is also introduced so thin Well, the knife roll it grabs and pulls it slowly. For particularly thin branches (by that I mean soft tendrils and Ästlein) but you have this before pressing in a little, that worked well with the supplied pusher. Nothing works was always with me only the collecting box full. (For pusher: Yes, that is a little mitgehäckselt, but only minimally at the corners Does not bother me, but is not exactly a sign of well-considered accessories..) The return is rarely used, but good that it exists.

With thin branches and leaves but the sectional image is unsatisfactory, leaves are mostly not crushed, even though I have the pressure plate readjusted equal something. For thicker branches are (thumb upwards thick) cut into a bit too much of (clean) while crushing a little.
All in all, not a pretty picture ejection, but for the compost heap anyway suitable (see my request)

The device is subjectively much quieter than the cheap-knife chopper, which is (40 U / min) are mainly due to the roll-typical low speed. One Sunday I yet do not want to use it. Furthermore, it is very solid and correspondingly heavy: The wheels are a good size, but because the device has a high center of gravity, the pull-behind is a pain because it escalates due to the narrow track. Then slide better. Ascending and -AB is wonderful without the device grinds on the stairs. Are doing it naturally tiptop.

Safety-there's nothing to complain about, the funnel is high enough, because one can hardly to the knife, the catcher signaled by a magnet its presence, without basket goes nothing. If you really want to, but the magnet switch could certainly outwit and then working without a basket. Who puts on a good cutting value (Ausstreu on trails, etc.) will probably have no particular pleasure with this device. Anyone - like me - just want to chop, the more: The AXT25TC eats everything comfortably, but afloat, to himself.

Conclusion: those of the rolling technique to combine the advantages of knife and thereby have the ultimate shredder, is only partially successful, but all in all a decent device.

ADDITIONAL after 3 major stakes:
The unit still gives me pleasure. BUT: Goods were rubbed gently after the first use only the corners of Kunststoffstopfers, it has to plugger more or less destroyed by the second use: Apparently has a branch that has "whipped" in the device, the pusher gets tough: Now he's the cracked lengthwise and threatens to break apart. ADDITIONAL after 2 years of use:
Well, it did not take long until the pusher is actually broken apart. About a quarter (a larger area) is now missing. But the rest has since maintained and works nearly as well as the whole. Mechanically there were no failures. Even with prolonged use (approximately 2 hours) he faltered for a moment. I use him the way around 3-4 times a year and also verborge him to the neighbor who has about as much to shred. It has been shown that one tends to always have something to put too much material in the hopper. In straight branches that is less of a problem, he has strength enough, but branched branches, or those with leaves turn, then tend to get stuck on an inner, really small edge. Then the pusher or a slightly thicker branch has ran to him to clear again. It turns out just then already: This is not agricultural harvester.
By the way, after about a year the rotation thing (like an oversized wing nut), with the bringing the aluminum plate closer to the knife, canceled. So not all, but only the part to which it rotates. With strong hands you can still rotate, but still annoying. Especially if you can not figure make it, how it happened. Presumably triggered somewhere in supplying in the shed ...
