The UX305FA is a 13.3-inch Ultrabook with a high quality slim aluminum body with matte display which is optionally available with Full HD or QHD + resolution and a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD. This rest of the equipment is in the previous versions called equal (Intel Core M processor, 8 GB of memory, card reader, 3 USB 3.0 ports, Micro-HDMI output, WiFi and Bluetooth).
I opted for the variant with qHD + display (3200x1800 pixels / 275 ppi) and 256 GB SSD.
The overall build of the notebook is in my opinion very good and through the aluminum it makes a high quality impression.
The keyboard has very good pressure points and it can be written on her well. Unfortunately, there is here, as already mentioned by other buyers, a keyboard light.
The touchpad responds very well and without any problems, also it dominated Multi gestures. The "click" of the left and right touchpad button I feel now is not so much annoying as others, but they are still good to hear.
The image quality of the matt + QHD display is very good and thanks to the IPS panels also very blickwinkel independently. Only the contrast could be a bit higher. High-resolution images and 4K films look crisp and sharp from it can also be very pleasant to read it.
With such a high resolution but you should be aware that there are still some programs so that problems of scale have (to small icons / display or blurred text). However, this should improve in the near future updates and further widening of 4K displays. The pre-installed Windows 8.1 has no problems with the way the representation in this resolution.
The only really annoying for me on the screen, however, the hardware-based adaptive brightness setting, this is but fortunately hotkey (Fn + a) can be switched off. When enabled, the brightness is changed partly continuously as fast that we perceive it as flickering.
The speakers sound quite acceptable for the flat type, for ordinary music enjoyment but you should prefer to pick up the headphones.
Since the notebook has no fan and no conventional hard drive works is completely silent. Nevertheless, the temperature development is limited and I could not detect any hot spots on the laptop.
With the built-in Intel Core processor along with the M 8 GB of memory can work well and there has been in daily use no performance problems. The processor is comparable to those from the Intel I3 family and has 2 cores. Thanks to the built-in SSD launches Windows in about 10 seconds and everything goes quickly out of hand. Memory is the way permanently installed and can not be expanded, this is probably indebted to its slim profile.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are working properly and I was able to not notice any bad wireless connection now.
Who needs a fixed Ethernet connection to is actually a USB 3 adapter to Ethernet at.
Thanks to the 3 USB 3 ports you actually enough connectivity options in this design. Only the right USB port, it might be a bit tight, because there right next to the Micro-HDMI port and the power supply connector is.
The battery life is specified with about 7 hours, but for me he keeps in rough so the 8.5 hours in normal activities (surf, mail, edit documents) by.
