Here my first impression:
- The drive is similarly loud as my old Sony device. Here I would have expected a little more. The loading of Blu-Ray is clearly audible, or just at the beginning of a Blu-Ray if logos, or Intros that have little sound and music is the running noise imperceptible. Distance to seat position approximately 4 - 5 meters. Possibly I'm here once something inferior even a mat or.
- The processing is okay, but for the price you should not expect. The surface is coated glossy, which I personally do not like so generally. It should be noted that all major components are in the right half of the player. If one is a Blu-Ray / DVD and presses the charge with your finger to can happen that one thus pushes the player back there already.
- WiFi works great in 2.4 as well as in the 5 GHz range. My Fritz box is in the room opposite, spaced about 1.5 meters and at a 5GHz connection shows me the Fritz box a connection rate of 240 Mbit / s. It is important that on the Fritz box optimization for Live must turn TV / Streaming, since there is otherwise stuttering when playing z. B. Amazon Instant Video.
- The player with Smart Hub through a wide range of apps that you can download to. But I must say that I expected a little smoother by the dual-core chip / processor the whole. The Browse through menus z. B. with Spotify, Youtube, Amazon Instant Video is something hakelig, and in no way as fluid as on a smartphone or tablet. Other apps, however, are even slower, such. As the App Market Wall for share view.
- Another point of criticism is the sort of apps. In the main menu of the player, the lower left 3 Recommended Apps and in the middle of 3 apps from within the display. If you switch to the Smart Hub appears above a strip of recommended apps. Here max cathedrals, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video are (at position 5) and others. These apps can not be sorted and not de-installed, so you have to constantly go for instant video only in the Hub. In the lower part is then carried out an overview of their own apps. This area can be but refined manually either by frequency or. The Apps at position 1-3 are then displayed according to the homepage of the player.
- The Home of the player is fixed and it can not be removed or moved categories.
Picture and sound are much better than my old Sony player from my feeling, because I'm really excited. The other settings which sound / image, etc. concerns are much more varied than in the past. The reading of Blu-Ray is really going super fast. My Sony has with some discs often until something has been displayed up to 30 seconds and more needed. And it went then ever good 2-4 minutes until you could finally start with the film. At Samsung the same discs just need 5 to max. 10 seconds to one is the main menu.
Finally remains to my personal assessment to say that the player for a price of 89 is quite ok as regards price / performance. More I would, however, also do not want to pay. And if the player cost more I would think, not perhaps to test yet another device.
