I liken the system like with the E-cigarette for music consumers. This is about the simple and direct consumption of music - and I mean consumption, not culture.
So it's not about how a Whistle or cigar smokers to go in the lined cardboard egg cellar, to enjoy his vinyl collection and to play with his gold connectors. Also, it's not about (the boxes on half tennis balls) to hear his concept record collection on the old stereo - the quasi self-made for the music listeners. Most closely matches the system nor the normal filter cigarettes, so the CD-collector among audiophiles.
The Sonos system is for those who have their music in digital form, who have no desire, always insert a new CD, which anyway always have their phone with them and want to play the soundtrack to their lives - anytime, anywhere. And that's what makes this system really good: easy integration of NAS in the basement, a huge selection of streaming services (Deezer, Spotify, ...), diverse cloud stores (Amazon, Google, ...) and Internet radio anyway , Player for each room in the house: from the play: 1 in the bathroom on the Play: 3 in the office to the Play: 5 for the living room. Not to mention the Playbar in combination with the sub for a clear TV consumption. If a player has alone not enough surround sound, so you can connect to a second to a stereo pair him even. The individual speakers combine to form an independent network and so can be used in every room of individual music be played in every room or the same - practical for parties. Music sprinkling everywhere - in theory even in the elevator - when there are an outlet - wireless goodness.
And always there is the possibility to quickly and easily to choose the next track, the boundaries of plates or CDs no longer exist, you can drift without first create a playlist (the mix tape of generation iPhone) - but this of course goes. However one has then also barely controls on the player itself (on / off and volume up / down) - here you have to rely on mobile or PC, the individual title selection would be different but also not feasible.
Who this kind of music appeals to consumption, which is the system Sonos right, all others are - depending on your preference - one or the other is missing.
We come to play: Once in the study already have a playlist: 5 in particular 3, I wanted to replace the then outgoing stereo system in the living room by a Sonos. Here I thought first of all, two Play: 3 set up as a stereo pair, but then I am for the Play: 5 decided, not least because he has a Line-In function - so I can the old CD player Proceed Connect to enable the other family members a smooth transition between the filter-cigarette and e-cigarette. ;-)
The facility went smoothly and since everything already for the Play: 3 was established, the play had: 5 assigned only the room "Living Room" and the CD player are connected. Playback of already configured music was performed as expected without any problems, the sound like it even better than the the Play: 3 - and compared to the (broken) old stereo system we have at last a reasonable sound in the living room.
The CD playback from the old player works fine - with the auto-play function starts playback of line-in even automatically, without the need to change only (with auto-play but he also switches automatically after about 10 seconds Pause again, which can lead in some cases to ugly misfires). Since the CD player has thus become part of the Sonos network, but you can now also listen to the currently playing CD in the study - practical.
Overall I am very satisfied with the complete change to E-cigarette - as a Non smoking.
