Sonos Playbar vs. Sony HT-ST3

Because of concerns about poor bass performance of standing in the shortlisted Sonos Playbar, I first chose the Sony Soundbar HT-ST3 with an external subwoofer. Although the sound was initially very impressive, showed up after a short time, some disturbing factors. First, a time is the cable that connects the Soundbar with Subwoofer (only) 3 meters, what the invisible placement of the heavy sub-unit is not allowed in my case. In addition, the infrared receiver is only in the sub-unit, a direct line of sight with the remote control rather shapeless is necessary. Although a very quiet, but still annoying buzzing of the subwoofer, which for a 300, - would perhaps tolerate Euro unit, gave the whole the rest and I decided to buy the SONOS Playbar.

Although more than 660 euros for a soundbar is quite a lot of money, but the SONOS Playbar is worth every euro. Who says a price around 400 euros or less for Playbar would be appropriate, I can in no way agree.

The installation of the appliance perfectly processed was very comfortable, which is not least due to the very well thought out app that is available for all platforms.

The essence of such a device is of course the sound. And here you experience directly on first hearing the first, extremely positive surprise: The bass that gives this relatively small thing already in default, by itself, the Sony HT-ST3 stands for in nothing. Supplementing the Playbar to additional SUB unnecessary for my feelings so completely and definitely. The bass is pleasantly full, clean and strong. Films like Gravity, particularly in the tieftönigen passages are a delight. Overall, the sound is clearer, more pleasant and clean.

Concerns about poor bass performance in my opinion are unfounded hence. The Playbar is so superior to some systems with external subwoofer. Absolute buy recommendation for all who want to enjoy a very uncomplicated, brilliant hi-fi sound enjoyment.

- To set up Playbar it is necessary either to use the Sonos bridge or the Playbar to connect with a network cable to the router. When the Playbar used solely to reflect the sound of the TV, can be dispensed with both on the bridge and onto the network cable after installation. Operation of Playbar with the app and streaming music services are however not possible because these commands are forwarded from your smartphone only through the router to the Playbar.
