I am a proud possession of Alpha 7R and have the same problem as most of you: not enough lenses for E-mount! Well, what could be better than to get a decent adapter from A to E Mount? Thought done two days later I held the packet to said adapter in hand (thanks Amazon for the quick settlement).
After I had impatiently removed the shipping container, I held then the actual package in his hand. What struck me was the missing seal. Not that it was removed, no, it seems to have just never been on it. (Mentally noted a small decline and unpack). In fact, I seem to have been the Erstauspacker. The film about the adapter was neatly folded and booklets or other offal for transportation fixation were in perfect condition. (Mentally the little minus painted subject.)
Very positive the supplied transport case for the adapter, I noticed. These are namely a flameproof box that can be opened with a zipper. There is indeed today like saving generally with accessories, I was pleasantly surprised. So strange, now we have customers been so far weaned from In-Box Accessories that he is pleased with the additions should go without saying! Yes, just like a charger for batteries in the Alpha 7 (R), I hope you read the Sony. The should have been here, that will not do! But never mind bought it gets so anyway
Now back to the adapter: Summing up at him, the material feels warm on and drive the finger over the surface it sounds a little hollow on. As suspected: Plastic! But nice plastic that is even processed very well and beautifully matches the Alpha 7. By turning the adapter in your fingers a little further around to look at the bottom can, you can see a recording for popular tripod thread (made of metal).
You screw carefully the protective caps from, one discovers a transparent slightly tilted surface, which probably derives a portion of the image to the sensors in the adapter and the rest of the image sensor of the camera. As part works exactly I do not know, but one thing I can say for sure: are from both protective caps, you can pass through the adapter behold. You can tell, is that apparently lost some of the light that is reflected to the adapter, the image sensor of the camera. The Tamron SP 90mm F / 2.8 can be in the macro area, if not very much light is there, expect major difficulties, you should take pictures from his hand. The lack of image stabilization and the lack of exposure by the adapter do already hurt something.
After I got the part rotated extensively, pushed and groped my first curiosity was satisfied, and I got the part in short to the Alpha 7 inserted: point to point, slightly turned, clicking, as with the lens. I tested first of all the kit lens (DT 2.8 / 16-50mm) of the Alpha 77 because. Within reach of my hands Turned camera and immediately had an image to see lucky despite not existing seal. It was striking first of all, that the focus was incredibly fast. My Zeiss 55mm or 35mm E-mount are a bit cozy. Built is a 15-point TTL autofocus system and three sensors. As already it works. Songs is no image stabilization built but just when shooting in telephoto or macro area would be important.
Next, I noticed, one should wish a variable spot focus, you can not move freely the marquee, but rely on the stipulation of a matrix is (just like in the Alpha 77). But for me, no problem.
Now the Tamron 70-200mm F / 2.8 and then the SP 90mm F / 2.8 Macro what can I say? Everything works as it should. The focus is seated and is afloat. No problems with the lens compatibility or otherwise unexpected devilry. It should once again assured that these results have not been tested under sterile laboratory conditions! Should someone come up with the idea to me any hairsplitting tests to Haun around the ears, just believe me: I am happy with what I've seen with my own eyes!
One more point to the conclusion that the adapter will be powered and the motors in the large A-mount lenses also. One should necessarily when photographing still have another battery case, depending on how much you plucks.
Conclusion:
All in all, a very successful adapter that feels great. Who should worry about the size of clear thinking! The A-mount lenses are so great because so falls a sillier Adapter neither optical nor haptic significant. Ingenious is also the AF system of the adapter. And I wonder if that would have no place in a 2,000 expensive camera and not in an adapter. Negative I feel the perceived loss of light, and the missed opportunity to retrofit the lack of image stabilization or possibly GPS.
I hope I could help a little and best regards,
Christian
ps .: Oh, by the way, the adapter connects the lens to the housing. It slackens nothing but except perhaps a tiny game which would also be the case without an adapter ...
