SONY DSC HX5V Very good but not 100% perfect (4.5 stars)

after days of reading tests and Testimonials I can now make known my own view for Sony DSC HX5V:
I chose the Sony DSCHX5V and against
- The Panasonic Lumix TZ10
(Too cluttered, too many functions and scenarios possibilities for a digicam and get me not with her
the uncomplicated useful snapshots which I expect from a Knipsi and against
- The Canon PowerShot sx210ix
(Only real reason, better video quality of Sony was) decided.

For me essential:
- I did not even try to compare the digicams with my Nikon DSLR
(Which would make plain wrong)
- What really help me the technical tests?
What counts is the subjective perception of quality (photos and video) as well as the ease of use.

Buying criteria:
- Clearly, not too overloaded menus with settings that can actually often times
uses. (limitations in the field of manual settings, I took here in purchase)
- Size (should fit in easily in your pocket)
- Functions (zoom, shooting in low light, continuous shooting, video, battery life and, even though I
do not know what, but GPS and compass * are then also nice features)
- Picture and video quality (A photo / video should consider easy to take pictures without long, but then
be useful)

Contra
(Nevertheless bought and satisfied => Pro comes after and is also worth reading)
Photos:
- I can only confirm HX5V The universally deplored soft image of the Sony DSC, but as I in any case all images
in PictureProject einspiele the notebook reaches a "weak" sharpening the images;
then the images are for a digicam really useful and good - otherwise I would be disappointed.
- The Sony DSC HX5V has weaknesses when imaging of red colors that are directly illuminated by the sun.
I had tried it with roses and geraniums - at this point a minus - but certainly not due to the
Digicam discouraged.
- I had to find that the color of an overcast sky with backlit subjects in a
certain angle to the sun is not perfectly converts (the cloud cover will not be shown perfectly gray, it
sneak very light reds a)
- Manual Funktionn as sharpness, contrast, etc. would still be additional functions which I in the Sony DSC
HX5V would nevertheless desired, pity ...

USB cable Sony-specific:
- Not bad since my laptop has a card reader, but otherwise I empfände Sony specific USB
Cable as an insult
Play and Menu button:
- For me as a man of the play button and the menu button are not optimal. If all buttons as the -Delete
Megrim it would be perfect.
Viewfinder (dated but handy)
- I miss the viewfinder (with the sun always practical)

Per
- Function and Scene Variation for a digicam and sufficiently user-friendly, in the dark also good to
operate. (What scene settings like Baby I and Baby II, I pet and pet II, practical relevance?
- Good recording quality in interiors and also in nature (limitations see Contra)
- Vidoeoqualität really very good (see Contra restrictions); Zoom is easily perceptible in silence.
- Continuous shooting are great
- Panorama feature is very convenient - even if the resulting images thus fallen somewhat very narrow -
but here again; if I want to have perfect, I have to dig out my DSLR
- Useful photos, even in low light

Finally, true to say:
- The Sony scores with ease and easily recorded pictures are also almost always useful

* GPS:
Note: The test allsamt criticize the complicated and hidden menu to turn off the GPS - Why I fail: You turn the dial to "EASY" then click on "Menu" and set the GPS setting to "Off" - this setting will remain upright want to be eventually activate the GPS again. (Complicated or hidden I do not find that)
=> There is also still a long way to go in the menu to GPS settings and disable this ....
