My reflections: over-ear, some bass emphasized reasonably good sound isolation and of course comfort even after several hours. The earphones are mainly intended for home, for music, PC, but just when I feel like sometimes on the go on your iPhone, while commuting by train etc ... Therefore, fell for me the top models from Beyerdynamic (770/990 etc .) out before. I want, when I'm out, not have to plug it in and carry around a KH-amplifier. The iPhone 6 is also so already not very pocket-friendly. ;) Since I sometimes want to wear outside, the optics should - say - do not be too modest.
My choice therefore fell on three models for testing:
1. Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear. Yes, on-ear, even though I wanted to over-ear. The design appealed to me just as well and I have read many reviews that the charge for the Over-Ears is not worthwhile in terms of sound difference and that the Over-Ears addition also usually sit on the ear because they are so small.
2. Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro. The optics is - used to, just looks very to gaming headset. But I was interested in the variable bass setting, the possibility of transformation, the great service that you can buy spare parts for years and I was just about time to test the Beyerdynamic sound.
3. Sony MDR-1A. Great looks, as well as looking for over-ear, actually exactly what I want. But the sound must indeed be tested.
Design (although of course any thing like different):
Here the Sennheiser is really unbeatable. He feels great, is well made, the materials seem to be good. Especially the red version has it done to me very.
The Beyerdynamic is not exactly the prettiest headphones on the market, but at least when it comes to colors, customizable, since so what could be done. I tested the white version, which is unfortunately at first glance not really wertig from, even if you really can not complain during processing.
The Sony is very chic! Come to the very special design of Sennheiser but not ran, is just more classic. He feels, in spite of some plastic parts but very valuable to.
Comfort:
The Sennheiser sits at first very convenient. Unfortunately - as I have feared for Over-Ears and also know from AKG - it hurts sometime on the ears. The pressure, however, is not nearly as high as the AKG - you realize the first twinge after about 3 hours and although I have a fairly large head.
Sony: On the ears everything is super! The Sony encloses perfect, the cushions are very soft and snuggle up to the head. But here there's two small problems:. The ear cushions are made of synthetic leather and not interchangeable, for example against velor. It is quite fast cuddly including - in the summer this could be a problem. 2. If the Sony for what I'm used to, quite heavy, so the headband pushing something. Here you have to slide around a bit and try until it fits comfortably. But when it sits again, it fits comfortably even over hours.
Beyer Dynamics: The COP is still heavier than the Sony and has a higher pressure. This one feels like having half a motorcycle helmet on. It is not uncomfortable, but just difficult - hence the COP falls here through.
Sound:
Here I have heard different things through, even if I myself prefer metal / metalcore / rock and soundtracks. For comparison, I also classical, pop, electro, swing and jazz packed it.
Sennheiser: The first tested the headphones was first a wow factor over the AKGs. This has then placed in comparison with Sony and Beyerdynamics but quickly. The bass is really very dominant in these headphones! Thus, the heights appear weakened, which manifests itself in particular with (female) vocals noticeable. It sounds a bit too dull. A large stage one must in these headphones, because of the form, do not expect. But the sound is not the worst!
Beyer Dynamics: I was very excited about the variable bass levels. But after testing I was rather disenchanted. Regardless of the style of music - either one has relatively clear highs, with Level 1 and 2, has it but live with a mediocre to nonexistent bass - or has bass, but the highs are damped, at levels 3 and 4 will be added, that the bass seems not very defined, it is more a muddy hum, as accurate bass tones. The stage is a bit tight, but better than the Sennheiser. Pure piano pieces sound as though from 30 headphones. I noticed is that the COP does much quieter than the Sennheiser and Sony - whether on PC, audio interface or mobile phone. (And that does not mean that you can not turn up to the ear drum damage him)
Sony: The scores here on the board. The bass is wonderful precisely in bass-heavy songs you get a right eardrum massage without anything affects spongy. The heights are very, very clear and voices sound natural! Whether the electric guitar in rock, strings in classical, or vocal - here right balance. Especially great: In jazz or swing you feel, having to be directly in a club and listen to the singer directly. The stage is very spacious for closed headphones - which looks good especially in classical music. A small disadvantage of the Sony but he unmasked quite mercilessly poor audio quality and recordings. Here so you should listen only ordinary quality!
Shortly about noise from outside: The Sennheiser these well perceived when no music is playing. With music, of course you get with not much. When Sony and Beyerdynamics the the scale holds. Even without music, the outside world is very subdued at two. With music you get absolutely nothing else more.
Which headphones my choice is finally fallen, it should be clear after the vote. I keep the Sony MDR-1A. I have a brief comparison, here are the Bose QC25 (though the store!) Belongs. These also have an excellent sound - but only as long as noise canceling is on. Thus, once the battery runs out, or you switch off manually NC, the headphones sound pretty miserable. Therefore I did not even subjected to a more accurate test. Battery dependent and poor in doubt sound - for 100 more than the Sony. It's worth it in my opinion, simply not.
I can really recommend the Sony, whether for music, for gaming on the PC or on the go on mobile. Here has the whole package! Only downside is the delivery. The cable for mobile use is absolutely fine, the length and quality of her. The cable for home use, however, disappointed. On the one hand it is too short, the other would Sony here certainly can jump two cables - one with 3.5 jack connector (as available) and also to one large connector for the system / audio interface - which makes Beyerdynamic contrast correctly.
