The device is small and yet integrates:
- A wireless headset
- MP3 player
- A telephone handset (with optional HD Voice)
- FM radio RDS autonomous
- An NFC chip
- A multipoint system
- End graphic display
The SBH52 is a comfortable product that combines several innovative devices and you use every day.
The dimensions are approximately 9cm about 2,5cm (except the clip) to a thickness of 8mm.
There are no angle. All edges are worked, rounded. Nice feeling when handled.
The device is compliant hyper. No need to NFC chip, no need for a particular version of Android.
I tested it successfully on several smartphones Family: Defy +, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Xperia SP and Y.
The-ear headphones are very good. I feel they have a noise reduction system. (There is a small hole above). The unit comes with 3 tips to adapt better. I tested the headset with several types of music and everything goes well. The volume is adjustable to 16 positions but I did not need to get away from the 10th.
No need to equalizer, the sound is faithfully reproduced. Truly a pleasure to listen. I even find myself listening to more music than usual.
Despite the use of Bluetooth as its transport stream stereo, I have noticed no slowdown yet other devices also using the same stream were connected Bluetooth on my smartphone. Belle technical performance.
Use of SBH52 as a telephone handset is bluffing. Guaranteed surprise when calling you and you go out just the SBH52 as a combined ... And you can use it also to recall ... The SBH52 includes a speaker and you are not obliged to using headphones.
The device is able to use HD voice if your provider allows. At the time of this writing there are only few suppliers offering this option (for reasons of cost license) but it's coming and it's really fantastic. (On Youtube you can see demos: HD Voice Demo)
Ditto for playing MP3 files, you can listen in stereo with mono headsets or via the speaker (a small 7mm gap of 3 mm which is doing very well).
Only with the FM radio that you can not do without headphones ... And yes, the headphone cable as an antenna. However, this FM radio RDS has a big advantage: it is completely autonomous, no need of the smartphone. The display of station names is more fun. The automatic scan can switch from one station to another.
The autonomy of the unit is surprising. Yet there is a 115mAh battery but it is so well managed that it is indestructible. (I listened to several hours of MP3 So by operating continuously Bluetooth stream and I only managed to begin the fourth of the battery). It recharges via a small cable. Full charging takes about 2h30.
I think that just by using the SBH52 radio or headset autonomy may exceed one week.
(But with me it never will, the MP3 player is too practical)
The SBH52 present you the names of the appellants, allow their rejection, allows the management of another call simultaneously, will present the SMS, you can even read through the speech, will present your gmails, Emails, Appointments of calendar, Facebook, Tweeter, RSS etc ...
Much like a Smartwatch actually ... With downloadable apps on the market ...
The information scrolls from right to left and further refinement, it is possible to reverse the direction of the display and leaving the user the choice to have the buttons up or down commands.
The display had its effect, characters and white icons pop up from the ebony surface deliver information and then evaporate into nothingness, leaving you back into music.
The SBH52 is multipoint. So you can entrust activities on a smartphone and other activities on another smartphone.
Practice: if you are expecting an important phone call on a business smartphone, you can listen to MP3s while waiting on your personal smartphone. When you receive the professional call music will shut off. One way to combine business with pleasure.
This handset will appeal to all who are sometimes hampered by the size of their smartphone.
Sony provides the ideal solution here: we can now have a great smartphone while having a small handset.
PS: The French SBH52 manual can be downloaded from Sony's website.
This device is so nice that I bought a second to offer.
