I have a Sony Vaio for the - admittedly - had relatively short duration of two weeks is owned and used in accordance with this time tested and ... I decided to choose a different model. Among the reasons for my conversion I get to the end of my review. First of all the positive aspects of SVT1511.
+++ The Optics: The SVT is an absolute eye-catcher and extremely high quality in terms of its magnesium alloy optics. You look at the Vaio and think "Wow", really nice. It is characterized by its design extremely thin and very classy in its appearance. It has an unusual design, but is also home to downsides - equal to more.
++ Vaio Smart Start function: On the whole, a feature that many call notebooks (or as in the case of the Vaio Ultrabooks) their own. By combining the 24 GB SSD cache the system has performed very quickly and you can smoothly continue working where you left off.
++ The 1920 + 1080 Full HD touch display: Certainly one of the main aspects of SVT. However, the display is not unalloyed pleasure. Let's see on the glossy screen and hardly vermeidenen grease stains, the color saturation might be a little out better (at least in the price league). It is nice, however, that without a framework that manages Sony - Another design technical specialties;) In addition, the touch in harmony with the usability of Win. 8
+ Weight: For 15.5-inch 2.3 kg are very good to get over.

The following aspects are now noticed negatively me:
- The keyboard: My absolute killer aspect. I use my notebook primarily for activities where a keyboard is needed (this can not compensate for a touchscreen - what there Smartphones) The keyboard of SVT1511 has a very short pressure point and this is also very vague. There may be many a user can thus engarieren or it does not bother him when he wrote less, but for prolific writer this keyboard is not.
- Key lighting: Another point of the keyboard is the key illumination, which does not seem to be uniform. If you look from a neutral angle on the unit are some key LEDs light, or the light can be seen clearly - which acts little high in my opinion.
- Intel HD 4000: Ok, in an Ultrabook should not expect additional graphics card, but for the price (and size) would be an additional graphics card certainly have made sense.
- Top edge: I've mentioned above. The design also has its downsides. One of them is certainly the still relatively sharp edges of the tray - another, absolute killer criterion for writing activities.
- Display Stability: Of course, a touch screen is also sure there so we thus serving the PC. However, the display teeters always some time after - getting used to.
- Power: Another criticism. The I5 in Vaio sets the pace, but this is in my opinion a bit too weak for the price on the chest. Many applications need much until you start (eg Thunderbird, etc ...). An important point for a powerful device - or in this case rather inefficient ...
- Battery life: Another KO criterion for an Ultrabook. Long battery life? Wrong! The battery is by no later than 3.5 hours down ... for an Ultrabook in my opinion far too little ...
- WLAN: Oh dear ... Oddly had been all notebooks / Ultrabooks from Sony that I had in my possession (3) significant Wlan problems ... disconnections have come to the agenda.

Conclusion:
I could list more details, but I think that the points mentioned provide a reasonably good overview. Of course I do not deny that some other users might represent different opinions on this, but it's also subjective;)
To sum up: The Vaio looks stunning, for the most part excellent workmanship and harmony thanks to its touches with Windows 8. But where there is light, there is shadow and so the stunning design are a failed keypad and a rather standard equipment compared to the error-prone and has a battery life adduced that none is worthy of Ultrabooks. For me, unfortunately, to select too many criteria that have led me to another product (not an apple!). It remains of course to decide each leave itself - I would give the Vaio most like 3.5 stars, but I think it's unique design, I admit at this point 4 stars.
