Sound: 1-2 - Pressing: 2-3 - Equipment: 2-3

After some back and forth whether the rather high price I am of the euphoric reviews in Rolling Stone and Audio (?) Be guided. And yes, seen on everything that vinyl box is really great.

Sound 1-2:
=======
Sonically there is nothing wrong, and you really have to see all relative. The original tapes have arisen partly under the most adverse conditions. Nebraska was added eg tape recorder of Springsteen himself in the basement of his house on a 4-track TASCAM. And when the starting material is not good, even the best remaster King can not perform miracles. In "The River" but you hear, especially on the second disc part a never previously belonged to peace, space staggering clarity. This is really great compared to the old pressure, and particularly against the lousy CDs. This actually applies to all the disks out of the box, with the possible exception of the two "Born ..." discs. My Sony Master Sound CD of "Born to Run" is similar to super - and "Born in the USA" suffers under the generall way you have added to the 80 plates. All in all though a 1-2 for the sound compared to the previous pressures and CD editions. In return, the box is really worth.

Squeeze 2-3:
==========
Here I am two-fold. The first disc of "The River" is significantly warped with me. That's not surprising when you look at how the plates were squeezed into too narrow carapace. Some of clicks are in the pressure that could have been a careful reworking, as it happens, for example, at Pallas, can avoid. But that costs money known. And requires real professionals. At this point, it was saved and sloppy in my opinion. This could have been done better. And this impression pervades the whole box. My conclusion: the pressing quality lags the sound impression unfortunately behind something. Led Zep have with their reissues that I own a lot done better.

Equipment 2-3:
============
Again, a somewhat ambivalent aftertaste. The replicas of the cover are very good (which, like many of the other reviewers have noted, Nebraska no longer gatefold donated scored). Also great that you have packaged the discs in foil envelopes. Not so great, that the has saved 20 cents per disc especially for anti-static cases. In this respect the Innensleeves you have to just replace yourself. There are at the replicas of the original sleeves. And a print with the lyrics, which you can read in the LP version also without a magnifying glass. That's all very good. Less good, I find that the case for the many bays are partly too tight. And factory get up folds. It is a 3-minute fumbling to get the two discs of "The River", including lyrics sheet and the two inlay replicas back in its case. Very, very ugly. Also, the box would have done half a centimeter more air. They would then have to include Nebraska as a gatefold, and it would have degenerated into less fumbling.
The booklet is printed very high. Due to the tightness in my box was already slightly warped factory. And real "content" can not wait to see what's insane pity you. Clear can I see the great pictures. But the newspaper articles can not be read because the layout has just put pictures like a collage about it. And why pray tell are you Bob Ludwig not a page in which he can tell some of the remastering work? Also space for more info on the individual discs, circumstances etc would have been enough. Actually, you can do without the book. Nice accessory, but unfortunately completely useless.
The vinyl box you also get an MP3 download voucher. Read correctly ... MP3 !!! More seriously, dear ladies and gentlemen of the record company, if I spend EUR 130 for a vinyl box, I do not want any MP3s, FLAC or ALAC but. And ideally in high resolution, so 24bit / 96kHz. Why a data-reduced version ??? That's ignorant. After all, there are 320k MP3s. But I have my entire music collection Lossless encoding. Too bad ... but almost typical.

Overall conclusion:
=========
The sound of the box, as compared to the original pressings and CD editions, often significantly better, isolated equivalent, but in press quality in the execution (keyword: Tight !!!) and the grave goods (nearly useless softcover book and MP3s instead of Lossless files) has been saved or not act customer friendly. Too bad .... it would be better to do - at least Bob Ludwig and Tony Scott have shown the remastering how to do it right. For the rest of you can not.

Postscript after I have now downloaded all MP3s:
A joker at the record company (or whoever) has unfortunately all 76 songs in a directory (The Album Collection Vol 1 1973 1984) set - and all with the album called "The Album Collection Vol 1 1973 1984 'tagged. Say, you are allowed to then assign the albums while importing even the title. Yes, the website also offers downloading directly in iTunes, but what I wanted to avoid technical reasons. What a mess in 2015 ... :-(
