So, to make it short: this "broken" is the HAMMER! I had been the "stovepipe" lens 3.5-4.5 / 28-85mm Minolta at my Alpha 900, proven a top lens. I was certainly impressed with the power comes in conjunction with the Vollvormatsensor out. That reminds me the 28mm focal length, however, is often too long, I looked for an alternative. Somewhat skeptical that the Zeiss delivers what the copywriting promise I ordered this lens. One look through the viewfinder, I was very pleasantly surprised: even straight edges, placed at the edge of the picture, run absolutely parallel to the viewfinder frame - at 24mm focal length. Since doing yourself some fixed focal length heavy! Then on the photo stalking ... To make it short: The Vario-Sonnar is with the best optics, with whom I have ever photographed. I set it at least on a par with the corresponding Zoom (2.8 / 28-70mm) LEICA (although this comparison is something that I've taken with the objective of Solms only slides which I then digitized the slide scanner from Minolta have)! Even at full aperture 2.8 top results, with nice separation of sharpness / blur. Now we will see, can achieve what the camera sensor with the appropriate hardware.
Mechanically, there is also nothing to complain about, everything is tight and as built for eternity. The setting rings are very good to use. Should it be necessary, you can adjust the focus by hand directly, without first having to use the switch on the camera. The autofocus is quickly and silently on the Alpha 900. And the focus lock button on the lens sits there, where do you find them immediately and can use.
Since I own this lens, I do about 90% of all recordings with it, and I was still unhappy with none! The weight does not bother me because I was the same used in my "analog time" LEICA ...
