Now I finally possess the long-awaited album "The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)" for 5 days in the Limited Edition with book, Blu-Ray, DVD and a CD with demo recordings. Since I first heard of the band Live heard "Luminol" on a concert, I was blown away and could expect the album barely. The mere fact that one of my favorite drummer, Marco Minnemann, participates Readme be impatient. I looked again the videos in Youtube and which showed the work on the songs. Now finally rotates the CD in my player and at least once daily. The album is just awesome from the front to the back and there is no single failure. The musicians are all absolutely brilliant and put the songs perfectly. Also nice thing about this album is the fact that it was mostly recorded live.
Luminol
I know the song for about a year and listen to him, since the appearance of Blu-Ray "Get All You Deserve", on which it is represented. And yet I have not had enough of the song. It's prog rock at its best. The song is divided into 3 parts. A 4-minute introduction, a quiet part and a repeat of the topics from the introduction. He really is very diverse and offers a lot of variety, so 12 minutes pass damn fast. To put him in the first place was a perfect decision. After the song has a lot of desire to hear more.
Drive Home
This is the catchiest song on the album, but that's by no means negative. On the contrary: The song stands out with a brilliant atmosphere, a beautiful vocal line and an absolutely brilliant guitar solo at the end. This solo I would like to highlight because it is one of the most soulful solos that I've ever heard. It is perhaps not technically the most challenging, but that's not even necessary. A solo does not have to be populated with as many fast runs. It is much more important that a lot of feeling is in it, and this is definitely the case.
The Holy Drinker
This is a song to my liking. Progressive, bleak, rocky and atmospheric. Introduced the song with a rock organ. Gradually, the other instruments are added. Here clearly ensteht a Jamfeeling what I really like. It reminds me slightly "No Twilight Within The Courts Of The Sun" from "Insurgentes". The ending is particularly awesome, here to build all the instruments one by one in succession to a grand finale on.
The Pin Drop
Kept rather cheerful offers this song again change from the previous ones. I think the vocals in this song used perfectly, it's something different than what you usually hear, and I find it very refreshing.
The Watchmaker
Rarely have I heard such ingenious song, it is simply right everything. The atmosphere in this song I think is unbeatable. The mood changes from sad / melancholic about Hopeful too gloomy and depressing. However, it noted the transition between these moods as good as not. It is so cleverly plays around and suddenly at the end of a gloomy atmosphere in front of a. I had goose bumps after the song and got me with enthusiasm hardly any. Words can not describe my opinion, the genius of the song, you have to hear him easily.
The Raven That Refused To Sing
We arrived already at the last song? Time passed so quickly during the hearing. This song is in any case again a masterpiece in itself. He is sad and at the same time but beautiful. He builds up over the seven minutes very awesome on, starting with a piano. The feelings that are mediated here indescribably beautiful and I have every time again goosebumps when I hear the song.
Even though I now already determined heard the album 20 times, I always get is not enough of it. It's just the perfect album. I admit of course, therefore an absolutely unrestricted buy recommendation. You get here really an awesome composed, rehearsed and produced work.
Ultimately, I do not really lead to a single word repeated:
Genial!
Thank you for reading!
