So I am now the Garmin nüvi 3597 LMTgekommen to it here actually should also go.
The new Navi should have for me a good screen representation, the opportunity to receive live traffic services, have a 5 inch screen, offering easy and quick destination entry, include lifetime free map updates and definitely bring a solid active holder. I believe useful to your destination carry a now almost all major Navis. So there were only the devices and Garmin Becker revo 3597 in the immediate selection, both can be supplied with Live services via smartphone for me. At Garmin I liked especially the quality, but still not too flashy appearance, the great representations of the exits and the good voice prompts. In addition, it should be possible to save pre-planned itineraries in Navi on PC. This is very pleasant, when the road is to be the target times, eg convertible tours.
Meanwhile, have the device in everyday use now two weeks and about 2500km to test well. If you want to receive the live traffic service via smartphone this cost again nearly 20, - extra. A Datenflat should the smart phone then but already have, so it will not be too expensive. The decor is simple and easily when you look a little familiar with such things. The display of traffic problems and the announcements I really like and are very clear and informative. Despite the timeliness and accuracy of the reports are still lagging a little behind those of Tomtom services. Nevertheless, I would call these services well even with Garmin and so far I had not yet seen a failure.
The route entry is quick and the routes will be calculated quickly. The representations of complex highway junctions and exits are really great, especially in the RealView views. The screen reflects a bit, but the routes are always easily recognizable. Mostly a very good and fast route is chosen. But there were already situations where the unit dissipates a not comprehensible via a parallel road with several traffic lights of a main road, although the same length federal road (to the one already goes anyway) completely without faults and crossings is. Also at intersections where left and right begin various street names, the voice message from time to time mistakes, but the route display on the screen showed the route until now always correct. This will hopefully resolved in the next update. The device is indeed just on the German market.
Very I also like the supplied disc holder with integrated additional speakers, the well should provide better acoustics. Per strong magnetic Navi docked stable on this holder and turn on this one and you lose weight automatically again. The power cord is plugged into the holder and thus does not need to be removed when removing the holder from Navis. The power cord is I find something got very thick and loose antenna cable is not really optimal. This is required only if you want to receive the premium storage services included in the purchase price per radio signal. Users can use the Live storage services via smartphone to save the good domestically. The other providers can better. Nevertheless, I was able to run the cable very well and unobtrusively in my company car and am thus well supplied abroad without data roaming costs.
Very pleasant is also the possibility, especially with the free downloadable program to plan Tyre "itineraries on PC using Google Maps with many milestones and then simply transferred to the navigation system. For me, the for in leisure travel by Cabrio like to the road making goal, it is very pleasant and easy in an unfamiliar area to discover beautiful routes.
The hands-free function via Bluetooth works, but here the acoustic reproduction is only very moderately. Actually very surprising as the voice of the navigation are clean and adequately reproduced loud. For me is not so important because I have a fixed FSA installed in the car.
That way I can currently not grant full marks, but maybe Garmin still varies somewhat by data update and I can then correct but still upwards. I've been watching for some time the Navimarkt and for me there is currently no better mobile Navi. Therefore, despite the price and the full score not my strong buy recommendation.
UPDATE 07/28/2013
Now I have already covered more than 12.000km with the help of 3597. In the meantime there was a software and map update, which read easily installed. Now the device automatically darkens even in tunnels and the reproduction quality of the speakerphone was apparently something understandable. Also, the device appears in the course of time trying to learn from my driving habits and now recommends some other routes, as in the beginning. Now if you could would live storage services more closely there by myself full marks.
UPDATE 05/12/2014
Garmin has the Live storage service noticeably improved by changing service provider. The data now come from "here traffic" a Nokia subsidiary and these have become much closer to my sensibility. Not quite on TOMTOM live traffic level, but pretty damn close to it. These services can continue, received via Smartphone Link and also by upgrading to the new DAB + receiver, Garmin has offered its registered owners of 3597 to really fair price for the introduction. Thus, one has to stay in a position for comparatively little money on the cutting edge of technology. This is from the 3597 with the new receiver a quasi 3598th is what I call a great customer service.
Thus, I now give full credit for this Navi. Of course there are little things that could be improved, but when I see what eg TOMTOM of customer service and offers Naviausstattung (I bestize also a TOMTOM GO 500) then would be in my eyes anything but five stars for the Garmin 3597/98 ;-) unfair.
