My opinions on Yoga2Pro:
Minor points (= whining at a high level):
- Backspace and shift key to get used to narrow
- Reduced function keys for application switching (quasi ALT + Tab) and monitor switching (quasi Win + P), I would have a button to turn off the microphone and a desired to disable the webcam.
- Very low stroke of the keyboard (to design)
- Pre-installed bloatware Some
- Screen whimpers at medium brightness, but this is perceived only in really quiet location
- Only one of the two USB ports is USB3.
- The fans turn on probably a bit too early. But due to the design, waste heat is of course a sensitive issue. Therefore, I do not want too much cost. Disturbing the fans are really never. If the fans are really needed (Age of Empires 3, or the like), I have other things to worry anyway.
Main criticism (which led to star deduction)
- Instead miniDisplayPort or FullHDMI only a μHDMI port (space for a meaningful connection would be available)
- Automatic brightness control pulses too strong. Should anything react carrier. I have therefore disabled.
- Yellow-Bug is quite perceptible. But with image content that are really yellow. Whether the BIOS update will help, I can not judge because it was when delivered to date. At maximum brightness, the yellow OK. So if you want to edit photos, herewith a way has to minimize the problem.
- For the money could calm a little accessories can be there (adapters for LAN and VGA, a bag, or at least a micro-fiber cloth for cleaning the display)
- Occasional fiert a the device for about 1min. In the time will not respond to any input. The cause is not yet entirely clear. But stopping some things (eg, Windows Indexing) and remove the most bloatware, the problem reduces to one to two times a week.
- Unfortunately, Lenovo integrates not the aptX protocol for high quality audio transmission in Bluetooth. This is really poor, but unfortunately normal. A 7 Bluetooth dongle helps here.
Positive / praise:
- Large and uncluttered keypad. For example: Ctrl again very outside (instead Fn outermost as some Thinkpads)
- Meaningful function modifier keys (eg with F4 are windows closed, enable airplane mode with F7, F9 can screen off) which allow just one click fast to save time energy
- Sound is surprisingly good, much more balanced than the E130 (more mids and lows, less scratching). Even if you do not get Hifi, for a movie during a business trip, it is always good enough.
- Display is also well suited for use outdoors to time just to write a review for the unit in full sun exposure (high brightness). Clearly one must not expect too much here.
- Although fans go to fast, but are pleasantly quiet and make sounds that are not nearly as high frequency as in my old E130. Also thanks to SSD, the device is almost never annoying perceive.
- Currently running Windows8 and everything I do so superfluid
My opinion on the high resolution of the display:
- Any criticism thereto is actually not to Lenovo, but at Microsoft. Therefore, this also does not flow into the assessment.
- Admittedly, Lenovo had besides all the bloatware that is uselessly exist even be able to offer a small tool that allows rapid switching of various resolutions and font sizes-scales. It would be a dream if the resolution changes automatically as soon as I launch application X.
- Very nice: lots of space and crack-defined fonts and edges
In summary: For full five stars is not enough, because there are just a few incomprehensible weaknesses. This includes clearly the HDMI output, which is available only in Micro version. This also implies that only one of two USB ports corresponds to the standard number 3. This acts as one wants to deliberately incorporate vulnerability to justify a sequel. From a perfect all-rounder so it can not be any question. But the there will probably never be:) In addition to criticism, there is also much to tell a lot of positive. Especially the smoothness at the existing power has excited me. Since many of the criticisms by software updates (scaling in Windows, Yellow Bug) or a little tidying up the unit (bloatware) are to be eliminated, and others are simply hardly be avoided by the design, I give four stars and a strong buy recommendation !
