As for quality, undeniably, we must recognize that the artist knows how to create a personal atmosphere is very gentle, even when the words are hard. A gentle maintained by a soft voice, articulating perfectly, posing with precision the smallest inflections and ideally served by a relatively stripped instrumentarium. Piano, bass, percussion (almost always working in minor setback and multiplying the subtle variations), some electronic effects or sound effects and musical scene is set. You slide in a music easy to understand, fun to listen to, restful and serene, alternating song and balanced to share part of the small orchestra. The all delivered by a decision of his copy, neither too close nor too far, not reverberated, allowing you to hear the lightest details. A real working pro.
So what limits you say after all this praise? Mainly two. First, a little too short disc in which two additional tracks have found a place more legitimate importantly, and this is my second reservation, if they had allowed the exploration of post scores to some slightly prosody repetitive, just to see what the artist is able to do on more varied music, more punchy, introducing stylistic breaks. I bet that it will come soon with the maturity and growing reputation.
That said, I have often thought about some of the early albums You Sun Nah listening "No Deal". When we see what this one has become through hard work, concerts, meetings, we can only wish the same for Melanie Di Basio. See you in a few years hence. Until then, take the time to discover it, it is truly worth the effort!
