this is my first review for a smartphone. I hope I can help a little with the agony of choice with my assessment potential prospects. I have the HTC Desire X now has about 3.5 weeks. A long-term test is as certainly not possible, but the first impressions I want to represent times:
After the primordial Desire, a Wildfire S and a One V (which is also used by me, the trend is for second smartphone. Grins) now a HTC Desire X.
I stabbed the Desire X in a scientific journal in the eye. Size, equipment and design have appealed to me the same. Only the choice of color took a little ... black or white ... I then decided to go for black. So, pre-ordered from Amazon and waited like a little kid at Christmas. Delivery and service of Amazon were great.
One day before our vacation came to my new toy. Super packed with the usual delivery Accessories (Data / Charging Cable, AC adapter, Quick Start Guide and headphones / headset).
Setting up went quite quickly vonstatten. Since my fourth HTC is now up, it took me almost an acclimatization. But I think even people who have never had a smartphone should have no great difficulty. A Google Account should exist or be created.
Somehow did not work location awareness to start. Neither Apps nor at their own bet Rapp. Back and forth thinking, and after I had chosen quit all apps when you turn off and restart device, worked the location detection.
The technical details, I refer to the manufacturer's website or here on Amazon.
Now, after over 3.5 weeks of intensive use can already assess some.
Let's start with the process:
The DX is really well made. No disturbing gaps, no creaking or rattling. Everything succeeded in everything and quite dibasic. Although My One V feels a little better to its metal housing, but that's a matter of taste. When Desire X (DX hereinafter abbreviated) there in the processing nothing to complain about. Only the back, which is good and non-slip ansich, leave fingerprints a lasting impression.
The on / off switch is placed centrally on the top side and is hardly produced. One can find good or bad. The pressure point is in my opinion well. At the location in the middle you get used to after a short use.
The HTC Sense interface like it very much, even if it is not as playful as the original Desire or the Wildfire S. The only small downside: There are only 5 instead of 7 home screens. Because you can now store apps as a folder on the home screens, is also in order.
Then I'm going a little bit the last detail:
Memory:
Of the 4 GB internal memory are still 1.1 GB free time with my DX. The rest is occupied by Android and Co.. This was aware before my purchase decision, as it is with my One V also so. Everyone needs to decide for themselves whether it is sufficient that. Of course, I bought a memory card to do so. So again 8GB happen. A variety of apps can be moved to the memory card. While not all but some.
Battery:
The battery is always such a thing ;-). With my average to quite intensive use I get along very well through the day and still have good power reserves. I have some battery-saving settings have been made such as .: display at half brightness level, and GPS synchronization. With reasonable to average use are with my DX two days there. Think that's ok.
Drive and connection:
The DX tinkers quite cheerfully to himself. So far, nothing has been crashed or stuck. The dual-core processor running quite smoothly and with few exceptions hardly stuttering can be heard. The exceptions are Google Earth and my album App. For this I need but mention that I have about 3.5 GB Images on the phone. Since it is not unheard of times that the images scroll slight stuttering were felt. Now the can but also be due to the memory card and all in all the pace satisfies my needs.
The navigation I use not soooo often, but I've also tested the three times. GPS is found quite quickly and reliably maintained.
With good network coverage, there are also the phone no problem. In weaker coverage my DX begrudge a few moments until it between 3G and GSM switches. My One V is there a ticking faster. Call quality is good.
Wi-Fi and data connections are kept well and give to date no cause for criticism.
Display:
The screen is 4 inches tall and in my opinion the perfect size between too small and much too large. I would recommend the DX with one hand and come in every (display) corner.
The resolution is very good. Small texts are to be read without problems and individual pixels do not stand out. There are probably even higher resolution displays, but considering the amount of the display is super. Compared to the One V, the colors are a little pale, but that one sees only in direct comparison. This may be because the the One V comes a little stronger with a smaller screen and the same resolution. The screen is also viewed from the side still easy to read. In direct sunlight, of course is not much left to see.
On touching the display without delay and precisely reacts.
Camera:
The camera provides quite a lot of settings. Some are gimmick and some very useful. In daylight, very good results are obtained. I have photos printed in size 10 x 15 cm and can be proud of. At dusk or in dark rooms, the images are no longer so clear. I'm missing a right trigger button as she had the original Desire yet. But this is also a matter of personal taste.
A front camera is not there. I also do not lack.
Beats Audio:
I hear with my smartphone just got music, but also wanted to test the.
The sound with Beats Audio is really quite good. Whether this is truly studio-quality experts to decide. A noise or whistling, I have not heard (I've read on the Internet in some reviews).
All in all, HTC Desire X with a successful middle class - succeeded smartphone. I wonder if and when the announced Android 4.1 is delivered as an update.
Everything again compact:
Those looking for a trivalent, handy, well-equipped and reasonably priced smartphone is well served with the Desire X. Compared to the first Desire, it has put on display size and pace and is expected to be for the near future on the current state of technology. Better play it safe forever, but for complex work, I have a PC ;-).
Personally, I am satisfied with the DX and would recommend it to friends. Whether my first impression is confirmed with the time must wait ... I will report ;-)
Thanks to the brave reader who made it this far.
Update 16.11.2012
Now after almost 40 days with my DX, I must nevertheless times bring an update.
The DX is still going quite smoothly. One notices already NEN difference whether one uses a Singel or NEN Dual Core processor. So from a purely technical level all good.
However, I noticed that the display of my DX somehow not quite fit, or better somehow stretched. This is difficult to describe a little. When the bottom right with a light! Pressure on the display drükt then you realize how it yields to a little down and we hear so slight popping noise. The same in a weaker form in the top left. Furthermore, has over time a creak the battery cover eimgeschlichen. Mostly right in the bottom third. And since I am an extremely cautious smartphone owners (mobile ash and always concerned about the condition of * g *), it also stems not from a fall or the like. I am then times out of interest in our local technology markets and have the whole time compared with various exhibits (black and white). Since that was not so. I have my dear DX today sent to Amazon and am curious what happened. I tell ...
So dear Amazon ;-) team, I hope for the best ;-) because ansich the DX is a grundsoliedes device which makes fun.
Update 27/11/2012
... Still nothing new from my DX. According to state prosecution since 19.11.2012 in repair process. Have 2 requests sent, still waiting for answer. Furthermore, I wonder which one is currently the Desire X (black) currently can not order directly from Amazon. According to information on the supply side of the product is currently being reviewed, or so. I'm curious why ;-).
Sooo, I'm waiting times further.
Update 01.12.2012
The DX is back. Mhhhhh ... So I can not really determine what was done. Except that now display bezel is a small place where the paint has flaked. Otherwise, everything remains the submission. The unit was according to information from the Service Hotline at HTC. Very sobering. Now I must first think about what I'm doing now ...
Update 06.12.2012
I then sent back to the DX Amazon and the purchase price was paid. Let's see if I'm happy with the newly selected Samsung touch ... Is already much bigger ... * g *. If not, I may prove it again with NEM DX ;-)
But what still should be noted, thanks to Amazon ;-). Very customer friendly.
