Greg Brown, who's otherwise his songs mostly himself writes (meanwhile he has released 30 albums regular!), Keeps this strictly according to the poems. So it could ever happen that a piece like "The Garden of Love" only 43 seconds and you wonder why it's been made, but since the poem happens to be no longer ... Otherwise, keep the majority of songs the 2-4 minute range.
As varied as the romantic poetry of William Blake is also the album. From the cheerful "Introduction" ("Piping Down the Valleys Wild, Piping songs of pleasant glee, ..."), on the wistful dramatic "Lamb", the "Tyger", with its compelling melody almost starts a, the wonderful "Angel" ("And I wept Both night and day, and he wiped my tears away ..."), the adorable "Little Vagabond" to the grand finale "London" ("And mark in every face I meet Marks of weakness, marks of woe ... "), to name just some of the highlights of the 16 pieces.
The only slight downside is that in the enclosed booklet not the poems are printed.
Otherwise, simply remains only: Listen, enjoy and let the words and music to it!
