Bilbo Baggins is a respected hobbit who hinlebt cozy in front of him and avoids adventure, so make like all the good and respected Hobbits. One day will change for him but everything. Because suddenly the famed wizard Gandalf comes to visit and persuades Bilbo a dangerous adventure. Bilbo is to support a group of dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, in the recovery of their treasure. The dangerous dragon Smaug had long ago "under the mountain kingdom" (Erebor), over which ruled Thorin's father Thrain, attacked the, killed a lot of dwarfs and took the mountain along with the treasure of dwarfs our own. Even today, watching the dragon in Erebor the treasure of dwarfs. Although Bilbo it did not plan, he takes part in the adventure and it attracts so together with the dwarves out into the dangerous world.
On the way to Erebor experience Bilbo, the dwarves and the wizard Gandalf, who accompanies them on a part of the way, and also hair-raising adventure beautiful. So they have to take on trolls, Wargs, Orcs and spiders, apply to Elves, received aid of eagles and of course there is also still the dragon ...
And when crossing a mountain range, as the group of orcs attacked Bilbo and Gandalf and the dwarves will be disconnected because of the Hobbit takes a ring that he is without thinking in your pocket. And this ring, which has the capacity to make its wearer invisible, as soon as this puts it on his finger, and his resourcefulness are not once saved the life to him and his companions ....
It is this ring Fund is laying the foundation for the history of the "Lord of the Rings". This is true in two respects, because only through the success of "The Hobbit", interest in other stories of Middle-earth and the Hobbits was sparked and so prepares the way for the publication of the "Lord of the Rings" series.
"The Hobbit" is a really good book, that's why it is so successful. Again, the reader will discover the wonderful world Tolkien drawn with magic and such familiar creatures such as elves, dwarves or orcs. Especially about Hobbits we learn in this book very much. The story I like personally very well. Especially that Bilbo, who is advised by accident in this whole adventure, throughout history is always brave and in character grows, is very nice to see and enjoy while reading (or hearing).
The general mood in this book is essential friendly (or "brighter") than in "The Lord of the Rings". It's also rather conceived as children's book. But Tolkien had slightly revised the book after the appearance of the Lord of the Rings again to bring some details (names, places, etc.) in better agreement and the importance and power of the Ring, Bilbo finds the to lift something out. Through this revision and with a newer translation of Wolfgang Krege (1998) is the book a little "adult" compared to the old translation by Walter Scherf. So it pleased me personally very pleased that this audiobook is in precisely the Krege translation, since these can hear better for adults, especially when one knows "The Lord of the Rings" and loves. (And in contrast to the "Lord of the Rings" is the Krege translation in "The Hobbit" is also among the fans, the more popular)
For the design of the audio book is to say that the CD's, surrounded by cases, be in a beautifully designed and sturdy cardboard box. There are, similarly to the "Lord of the Rings" -Hörbüchern, a nice booklet with lots of very interesting information about the author and to Middle Earth and Maps, with which you take the path that Bilbo and the dwarves to Erebor better understand, can.
Finally, only remains for me to reaffirm that this audiobook is really worthwhile, as this is a really nice episode from the stories of Middle-earth that really tells a charming story. Ideal also to "The Lord of the Rings" something better understanding.
