All these aspects, I can confirm in any way. I have the Pioneer connected at home, given my short speaker system in the speaker set-up and adjusted the subwoofer. After that I can automatically calibrate the speakers via MCACC. There are three different Einmessarten, I just let each go through and saved the results in each case on a separate disk. After about 25 minutes it was calibrated and I dared myself to my first sound test, with the ACDC BD - Live At River Plate.
At this point, many users complain that the sound at heights should be emphasized and to be erhlich, he it is, but only a little. I loved the sound nonetheless thrilled my subwoofer plays now much more powerful and precise than ever before. The sound is clean and you can hear right away more details out, the stage is set up much better with the Pioneer. Of course this can also be due to the room analysis system from Pioneer, I personally find the MCACC a lot better than the Yamaha YPAO. The only thing I've adjusted the heights was to take something out, plus there is the setup the "X-Curve" setting. Which is specially since the film sound / music to take the ups and the set really fast and easy.
My previous Reciever was the Yamaha RX-V 473, this is also a really good AV Reciever, but compared to the Pioneer VSX-923 he has in my opinion no chance, at least on my system.
My system consists of:
- 4x Heco Victa 700
- 1x Heco Victa 100
- Magnat Alpha Sub A30
In addition I must mention that our living room is quite large, about 36 m² with an open at current ceiling on 6 meters.
Benefits of the Pioneer VSX-923 as compared to the Yamaha RX-V473:
- More pressure
- Stronger and more accurate bass
- A little more clarity
- Better stage, illustrates details more
- More connectivity options and 2 HDMI Out ports
- Much more setting
To come again to the settings. After calibration I have only taken out the highs slightly and for me the sound is already really really good!
Very nice is also the OSD of recievers menu, here you can change a lot of things quite quickly. I had just mentioned the various room analysis Modi's, which I have stored on a separate memory slot each. Now you can conveniently select the three stored slots via OSD and directly hear the difference in sound. In these slots the distances of the speaker, the level, the phase shift and the EQ mode are each specifically stored, you can hear the difference immediately and you can so easily pick his personal favorite.
In addition, the measured values of the MCACC measurement are retained, even if one or the other even after adjusting the, so no need to adjust everything manually from scratch.
The most important settings are easy to find, as with any other Reciever, I have had no problems, yet I needed the manual. Once pressed the home button and you can already make the most important settings. I'm also not a professional hi or whatever, but I deal with love of the art and complicated I find the Pioneer is not truthful.
The remote kills a, at first glance, because the FB of Yamaha's was a lot tidier. When the remote control, however, a closer look at times, as noted and is understood at first very much. What should be noted, however, that there are settings, such as the control of the HDMI outputs, the FB only by keyboard shortcuts can be accessed, this setting can be found in the menu nich!
Maybe this is one of the criticisms that so many complain about. At this point, I had to look in the manual, but we're really, on the one hand one is the most just once, and on the other hand we know then how to do it. So you get to know each other better remote control and it is a much more comprehensible. I just loaded me the instructions on the tablet, so you can comfortably read something if need should be.
In addition, there is the AvController app and this I find it very successful. You can set and change much with this app, such as the name of each HDMI inputs or one switcht the whole surround modes through, is the Eco Mode / EQ on or off and much more ...
Even the Airplay works perfectly with me. Unfortunately I can not say anything on the subject streaming, since I have no media server.
If you want to deal with all possible settings, then you need the manual, and definitely a lot of time, but this is not necessary to obtain a good sound!
My Conclusion:
Who just looking for a good sounding AV Receiver with sufficient energy reserves will be rewarded find them here and with a great sound. Who at least want to deal a little with the matter, or even wants to use everything that goes, is right here. Even with a small amount of time you have been a reasonably sonable system and a super sound result! If you want to invest more time, this can only improve sound experience yet. Very strong buy recommendation from me.
However, if you only want to connect to the Receiver and make no handshake after calibration and thereby expects a perfectly adjusted sound that looks rather to the Denon camp.
Yesterday I connect after investing about 30 minutes, of which about 25 minutes alone have taken away the calibration in fitting the three modes, and had a super sound. Only the treble and subwoofer had to be slightly adjusted.
I for one like to play around a bit and read me like in the matter and become the time everything else from time to explore. For me this is worth every penny Reciever!
