Super Clock albeit for me not quite right

Sony SmartWatch 3 SWR50 (1.6 inch LCD display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, Android Wear) Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)

Customer Review

I want to briefly summarize what is at stake here in the Rezesion first. I want to compare the SWR50 a little with the MOTOACTV Motorola and thereby describe a bit my application.
Since I now have the SmartWatch 3 only a few hours the course are only short impressions. But I hope this will help others to make a decision for or against the clock.
Short to me, I'm Linux IT Administrator and am always up for new technology, but also does not have to join anything. I have a variety of smart phones / mobile phones and tablet at home and my household is otherwise well equipped with IT and other technology.

My experience and my application:
-------------------------------------------------- -
I have been around for over 2 years, the MOTOACTV Motorola. The time I had bought with chest strap for heart rate measurement and cadence / speed sensor for my bicycle from England, because she was unable to get on the German market. For this clock I was looking for a replacement.
I am an absolute amateur runners but one can still collect some data for themselves and a cell phone, I find it simply impractical. The MOTOACTV has 8GB Memory for OS (Android) and data. In my music I listen exclusively via Bluetooth headphones. For this purpose the Pulsgurt.Dabei the clock is completely self-sufficient. GPS / Wi-Fi / Bluetooth built everything. Touch screen to operate. Unfortunately, not waterproof and only passably to use because of the not so good software from Motorola with a mobile phone. In addition, shortly after the appearance of the clock there was already no longer be supported and inzwichen the clock has been completely set.
So I am looking for a replacement and came across the SWR50.

The key data of SWR50:
------------------------
Android Wear in the current version, waterproof, GPS, Interchangeable bracelets, ... one can indeed read everything in the product description and hopefully I need not enumerate everything, right? :-)

Scope of supply:
--------------
The clock is delivered in a beautiful packaging in which it is held as in a small display case with the bracelet on a bracket.
Otherwise, a short microUSB cable is and a quick start guide but I have not looked.
It is a pity of course, that no separate power supply is, but since it can be loaded via a MicroUSB port are usually already available power supplies. Just as with me. I think it's still a shame that was saved in it.

Appearance / look / feel:
-----------------------
The visual impression is really good. The workmanship is high quality and the bracelet and the main unit will fit very well into each other and see at first glance does not look as if they can be separated from each other.
The bracelet has a soft-touch surface, the more I think it feels very pleasant. It also does not stink. Only if you smell directly to the nose because you take a plastic smell wahr.Ich like plastic bracelets rather than leather or metal. Sure, you sweat less, but in sports you do that anyway and leather then starts to stink. Metal is too heavy for me.
The metal closure is done well and is easy to adjust in width. Of course I would prefer a hole between two holes for the perfect fit had.
The size of the clock for me is OK. Sure, it is not small, and for a small wrist quite bulky but more elegant than my MOTOACTV. And in the profile to act by the contrast between the black bracelet and silver casing thinner than it really is.

Connections:
------------
The only connection is the microUSB connector on the underside of the housing. This is covered with a small cap. I find the decision of Sony for a standard connection well, so you can reduce cable clutter and can use existing chargers and cables. So you need no special charging station as with other models.

Connect the clock:
-------------------
Unpack, switch on, short wait until the clock is started and run on the Android phone, the Android app Wear. Thus, the devices must find Bluetooth enabled cell phone on. Who ever has paired Bluetooth devices immediately know how to do it, even if everything takes place in the Main App. The devices have been found immediately after a confirmation on the mobile phone and the clock it was all over.

Operation:
-----------
On the clock there is a brief introduction to the operation of the possible wiping gestures.
- From the bottom up gave way to the "maps" to change with information.
Get Wipe from right to left to additional information or to perform actions in the context of the card -.
- From left to right wipe to remove a card
- A wipe from top to bottom to enable / disable the vibration motor, and shows the date and the battery status
With a tap on the screen to save the "OK Google" and starts the voice input. Here you can also help with a wipe from bottom to top Show to find out what you can do everything by voice.
Since I already had a couple of Wear enabled apps on the phone I was able to try out a few things. E-mails and text messages were displayed directly on the clock and reported by vibration.
The voice control works well. Sending a short text message or e-mail worked pretty straightforward. Creating a reminder, a note or a timer is easy to make using your voice.
Prolonged pressing the power button a setting interface is accessed from the Bluetooth devices can be connected, the clock can be restarted and the Beluchtungseinstellungen can be customized.

Display:
---------
The display looks a bit strange at first glance, but which is probably because it is a tranflektives display. I can not see individual pixels. The brightness is good, and even without backlighting can read in daylight time. Colors you can not see but then.
The font is small but sharp and legible.
By default, only the backlight is switched off. But it can also cover the entire display are switched off.
Very good, and with only a short delay, does the automatic switching of the display / lighting if one raises his hand to look at the clock. Even switching off is quick and reliable. One touch of a button or turn the clock until I did not have now.

Battery life / charging:
----------------------
Since I can nothing to say, especially since I have now Tried much. If the promised two days would agree that for me OK.

My field of application:
------------------------
I wanted to with the clock, without a mobile phone, run go so far but I do not see how this could go. My chest can not connect to the clock and Runtastic and the like requires apparently still the phone. There nutz me nothing that I could hear the music from the clock.
Since the "age-old" MOTOACTV is far ahead, but here it is lagging in the integration / communication with the mobile phone and the app on your phone.

Apps for Android Wear:
------------------------
Currently I would recommend the app "Wear Mini Launcher". So you can a few settings on the clock do not go right the other and can start actions which otherwise operate only via voice input. Otherwise, I have just tried out a calculator.
All other apps I've tried do phone. Kaiten as mail client, Runtastic, Yatse. I have not heard so far about the clock music.

Music / Headset / Bluetooth:
--------------------------
I have now loaded music on the clock and connected my headset. Pairing the Bluetooth headset was not a problem. The music on the clock to get even more. I only got music on the clock which was purchased through Google Music. The three albums that I had there have ever used until they were on the clock felt it was about 30 minutes. Since I did not expect that it would take as long as I had not stopped the time.
The Weider gift works without problems. Unfortunately, the music app is very simple. Play / pause, volume and track up / down. Coils is not possible and playlists can not also invest.

Wanted to play on the speed and the music does not come from Google on the clock to get I have it connected via USB cable to the PC. Unfortunately, the clock will not be recognized as a removable storage. The port is for charging only.
A connection via Bluetooth brings to the PC nothing. There are only a Headset profile. And I've also fixed found that only one Bluetooth device can connect to the clock.

My Conclusion:
------------
How often I would use the voice input I do not know. But I would probably me weird happen to talk with my clock and trumpets to the world what I am doing so in public. Others have so certainly less problems.
I do not have WhatsApp, no Facebook and no Google+ and am also in no other "social network". In order for Google Now is also interesting for me. Here then is probably the biggest problem. My Calendar ind nich at Google, my contacts do not also. I let my whereabouts not constantly record, and therefore the main functions of the clock for me seem to be largely useless, because I probably will not get any information about a traffic jam on my way home.
To be discreetly reminded of an appointment in the office or to receive a notification, the clock is super.
The development will naturally do not stand still and the apps even more detached safely from a mobile phone, but until that happens I will probably stay with my old MOTOACTV. Whether I send the SWR50 back? I do not know Nocht.

Now that I've ausprobobiert a little more and have found the restrictions on the music and Bluetooth I'll send back the clock.

My rating:
-----------------
I forgive 5 stars, which may seem surprising, perhaps something that will justify this as well. The build quality is super. The clock can be worn well and makes a high impression. The display I like the functions that run on offer without significant difficulties.
That the applications simply not (yet) suitable for my application area because the clock can not help.
For others, it looks focus more on alerts and Social networks might again quite different.

To hear the function without mobile music sounds nice, is not good in my eyes but. For this, I would deduct half a star.

Of course I had only a brief glimpse, as I set the clock only had short, but I hope I could give a little insight. I hope with my review, everyone can get an idea and decide whether the clock for one likes it or not.
