Previously I had the iPad Mini (without Retina). It was okay, did not have enough memory and was too limited.
The display resolution of Yoga Tab 8 of 1280x800 I find appropriate and the speed is fine. But there are much faster devices. (Galaxy Tab 8.4 per, Nvidia Shield, Acer Iconia Tab 8) The battery lasts extremely long. Processing convinced.
Display:
As described, the display resolution is visually much higher than the iPad Mini and for my purposes it is enough. At 10 "it would be critical. The lower resolution makes the display brighter, saves battery and processing power. The colors and contrast are great. Even better than my old Apple Pad. The brightness of both devices is approximately the same. Both are very bright ,
Memory / RAM:
The internal memory (16 bytes Milliaden what about 15 GB), enough thick. Android apps are actually smaller than iOS apps and the device has an SD slot. It is so wonderful. You can also a Micro USB plug USB sticks (USB OTG cable for 3 at Amazon). The memory of 1GB is no problem. Browser, Rayman, Beach Buggy Racer ...
Speed:
Here's the catch. What benchmarks say makes easily noticeable. SunSpider 1100 vs 600 (Nexus5, SGS5, Pro8 Tab, iPad Air). Facebook invites about 4 seconds instead of 2, as on my Nexus 5. Is not it great tragedy. But the switching apps or closing sometimes takes 0.5-1 seconds. At Nexus 5 absolutely 0 loading time. Beach Buggy Racer I can not gamble on maximum. Only on high. The iPad Mini, it has however always extremely hacked. Otherwise, everything runs smooth as silk: Chrome (even complex pages), surface Apps. In your browser, the Yoga 8 is significantly faster than my iPad mini. Chrome also runs liquid than Safari on the Mini.
Software:
We have here Norton, which unfortunately is only a trial version. Thanks to Google's Android Kitkat can disable Norton. It can then no longer find or start. Otherwise bloatware is also abundant here. A surface that is a bit slow, a couple of battery tools, gallery, file manager, video player. I have the Google Now Launcher from the Play Store loaded (thanks Google). Now my Yoga runs 8. There are now a lot more tablet apps for Android, as it was the case in 2010. Still, there are more specialized apps for the iPad. I wish that the on-screen buttons are always transparent, like on the home page (Home). In Chrome browser that sucks badly. Chrome displays everything very well and works perfectly. Facebook (Desktop), this page here, WebM HTML5 no problem. Apple's keyboard, I personally find better. But there are many keyboards in the Play Store. One question: Is the Route 66 navigation software, a full version? If so, it would be awesome.
Battery / processing:
Here the device is .... UNIQUE
So battery ....... running .... running .... Wow 95% by 1:27 Active Time (display on) 2 days, automatic display brightness (on sunny day on the train). Better than the iPad Mini, which already has a very good runtime. As a comparison, my Nexus 5: 16h last loaded, 1: 10h active time and 30% battery. The display is very economical because of the resolution. It penetrates more light through the pixels. The SOC is not the fastest, but it consumes precious little juice. The tablet is absolutely zero warm. The standby consumption is almost 0-1% per night. My Nexus5 loses at night already 10-15% in flight mode. I wish the Media Tek SOC in my Nexus5. No Joke.
Workmanship is good, beautiful metallic and looks classy. The cylinder at the lower end is practical. Is really cool so to read in the train. The stand is just awesome. The Wi-Fi reception is okay. The speakers are great places, but the sound of the iPad Mini Speaker I like more. Camera? I have never used it. Who does that?
Very cool device. I hope Lenovo brings an identical successor (with QSD 410 or Intel CPU) and Full HD screen. Otherwise, the Acer Iconia 8 and Lenovo S8-50 is interesting.
Supplement for a month:
Battery life in real use about 13 hours. 60% surf, play 30%, 10% Miscellaneous. The tablet also serves as a power bank and you can hereby invite his smartphone. Another snag: The game performance is not too strong. Some apps are high on iOS. Am satisfied and my iPad mini have sold. Lenovo has launched a successor out. With Intel Bay Trail CPU. Optionally available with Windows or Android. Very nice.
