What can I say, taking pictures with a DSLR makes even more fun than with a compact! Since Christmas I've done just over 2000 photos with the 1100D, because I am so excited. Of course, not all have become great, but you learn also still!
My, with the best will not bad, Olympus XZ-1 I have since barely touched ... and if I first tried to look through the viewfinder does not exist, so I've gotten used to the EOS.
However, there are 2 points that I did not like so well:
1.) The SD card slot in the battery compartment. This disturbs the one hand, when the camera is screwed onto a tripod and the receiving plate rises above the battery cover. On the other hand, the cover is a bit fiddly to open, if you want to take out the card. This is often the case with me, because the transfer of the pictures on the card reader is simply faster than directly from the camera.
2.) The screen is still relatively small, if you work via Live View and wants to focus manually, it is difficult to judge the sharpness of the image, even when the use "Point Zoom".
But I draw from each half a star.
What I can absolutely recommend it to anyone DSLR beginners (manufacturer independent):
- Buy yourself a book to fit your camera, because everything is better explained than in the manual and you also get more insight into the basics of photography!
- Seek out a so-called "DOF Calculator".! Whether online, or as an app for smartphones (very helpful!) Does not matter.
The Depth of Field or depth of field calculator has helped me a lot in understanding the relationship between aperture, focal length and lens distance! Then you get the parts of the image sharp, which you want to have sharp!
