The Transcend Slim DVD burner works well with me and has a similar, slow in the older part of Samsung replaced. Goto format selection is to add in my view not much. It burns DVD and CD blanks and CD-RWs. I've tested in the last few days and did not identify any problems. Both the PC (Windows 8) as well as the burning program (InfraRecorder) is detected the part properly and running. I need it but rather to occasional DVD playback on a tablet PC (with Windows) and can not complain in that respect. The sounds are quite audible when reading, but after that there is. One should be aware of just before that the Transcend draws its power from one of the two USB ports required. There is no external power supply, which in turn I need to connect to the power the Tablet PC for an entire feature film. The only problem is really related burner is, in this case, and also to my other PC, the inflexibility of the USB cable. It has just the burner a minijack, is quite short and is divided at the other end in 2 normal USB connector (power + data - both are required for operation). Most Tablet PC USB ports are located on different sides of the device, which I just so hinkomme because the play of the cable, where the plugs are separated, is very short. On ordinary desktop PC, although I have 2 front panel USB jacks directly above one another, but the computer is for it on a shelf where no further space for the burner. There is a case that the USB cable in total is not enough to the floor, precisely because it is so short. So I must make it the drive somewhere, so it does not depend on the cable.
Summary: It Works, makes the play not a lot of noise, looks good, but the cable will cost a star. In both respects possible (total length and the length of the divided piece) it fails me. Too bad!
