Super great device but unfortunately also with gross blunders and errors

What moved me to purchase:
- Fast smartphone with the smallest possible enclosure dimensions
- Expandable memory
- Windows Phone 8 operating software
- To use the maps app and the option cards offline

Additional requirements:
- GPS (Standard)
- Good resolution
- Acceptable battery life
- Good phone sound quality
- Bluetooth connection must function with hands-free kit in your car

What I put little value:
- Camera properties or front camera (for taking good pictures I use my digital camera)
- Support for the "Social Networks" like Facebook, etc.

Criticism in advance:
It is already known that the previously released smartphones from HTC and Nokia have serious errors, such as the sporadic restarting the device as well as problems with the battery life. This is reminiscent of the recent attempt by Microsoft with WP7. A bug fix to appear allegedly this month.

First Impression:

I still have not installed SIM card still MicroSD card. The unit moves from off within 45 seconds high. For my taste, a little slow but still acceptable. It requires 15s to shutdown. In this test me something strange is noticed: The power does not turn off with the charger attached but restarts automatically. The same occurs when you plug the charger plug in switched off.

The menus run very smoothly. They are clearly structured and within a short time I find my way without the user experience WP7. Finally, Microsoft has managed to create an easy-to-use operating system after many failed attempts. The WLAN is easily set up and downloads and Internet Explorer to function very quickly.
There are some useful, mostly free apps in the Microsoft Store.

Now comes a very large hook. The included and acclaimed in the system maps app "is a joke Could I uninstall it, I would do that immediately the app displays neither direction nor can navigate One waits in vain for a speech.. and can also no alternative route or waypoint select. The pedestrian mode seems pointless because I can see no footpaths.

The next terror can not be long in coming. The cards can not be installed on the memory card. It can be stored on the memory card according to the operating system only music videos and pictures. The memory of 4GB, making it much too small. The operating system benötig alone so much space that not even 1.3 GB for apps, the maps and many other data such as contacts, messages and mails remains. After installing the entire map of Germany is not even space for a second card. For more apps, it is really tight depending on the size.

Furthermore, the light sensor is not working properly. The display always looks a little too dark. If the device is held against a light source, so the display illuminates automatically. However, it darkens after not starting. Not even after a long wait. If the device is locked manually and unlocked, it adjusts its brightness to the surrounding conditions again.

What's bugging me personally that Microsoft had at every Windows Mobile or Windows Phone version offers a way to synchronize contacts and data. All thing changes the method permanently (Outlook, ActiveSync, SkyDrive) and is usually not compatible with the next generation smartphone. The contacts of my Windows Mobile 6.1 device I was all transferred individually via Bluetooth or hands!
I'll keep the device for now, continue the test after receiving my MicroSD and MicroSIM and complement this review. Until then, there are times following

Pro:
+ Fast smartphone with acceptable housing dimensions
+ Expandable memory
+ Display resolution affects sharp Apps Start afloat and the menus animate very smoothly

Contraindications:
- Available space much too small (really a joke !!!)
- Automatic brightness adjustment deficient
- Display reflects light
Limited expandable memory on a few media types -
- Power does not turn off when loading or restarts automatically again
- Maps app not suitable for navigation (functional range is really very poor)
- Live tiles update many apps do not own - after starting and stopping App
- Smartphone freezes (after 2 weeks now for the first time)
- HTC Contact via email regarding customer support and technical assistance available!

Conclusion:
Overall, the unit makes a strong impression and use by the beautiful, brisk and well-structured menu makes you feel good. Unfortunately, today is probably timely that devices are delivered with lightweight but also more serious errors. The memory is too short, but may be sufficient, depending on the claim. Who wants to have recourse to a navigation software from a third party, should be informed in advance whether the maps can also be outsourced to the external memory card. Who the date of publication strikes in this product, also a not yet fully mature system has to accept. So one can only hope that most errors can be repaired by the software solution at all and this is also done. Personally, I can live with it for now. Those who can not live with it, which I rate currently definitely on a purchase. Possibly is indeed the more expensive, larger and vessel equipped with more memory 8x in question. From the highly acclaimed Maps app it is better to expect nothing. The error or Unfeinheiten seem slightly superior to the positive arguments. It is hardly conceivable that a customer notice such gross errors after a short time and the group likes of Microsoft and HTC is not noticed seemingly or for the time being did not matter.

I have all the pictures and MP3s deleted and installed the following things:
6 smaller Apps + entire map of Germany. There are still 380MB free. Since Microsoft already operates due to the bugs on system updates and will be larger due to the system size Updates that leaves me only one way open:
I renounce the offline maps and have therefore around 1GB for apps and system updates. Music files, photos can indeed be outsourced to the memory card easily.
If I stay now spared after being validated my MicroSIM of restarting bug, and Microsoft released a working bug fix, I might be inclined to forgive a 4th star. Strictly speaking, the delivery status of the device, however, is not worth 4 stars!

+++ Update 2
Now my phone is frozen after 2 weeks for the first time. The device can not reboot. Stupid that the battery is not removable. You can contact the Customer fails because the HTC website so permits neither Internet Explorer nor with Google Chrome. Real ridiculous.
