The design of the housing is better than on the product photo - in my view quite living room compatible. Very good, I find that the housing has a genuine on / off switch. The switch and the connectors for USB and power supply are located on the rear of the chassis. The two-color indicator light (blue / red) on the other hand is on the front of the chassis.
The only shortcoming is that the front LED is very bright and flickering light and hectic with blue disk accesses.
I use the two bought housing at two digital satellite receivers, Technisat (HD8S and S2). The housing with the built-in hard disks have been detected by the receiver immediately. Since the recording formats of the Technisat receivers are compatible with each other, I can replace the two hard drives with one another as. For this I need only pull out the USB connector and the plug of the power supply and connect the other housing it. This is not much more complicated than changing a USB stick.
The case, incidentally, also supports an automatic spin-down function: After about 15 minutes of idle stops the internal HDD. On a return access the hard disk drives reliability up again. The front LED will turn red. The spin-up feature also goes for timer recording. This has the advantage that the hard drive is before the start of the satellite receiver recording at a standstill and only then comes up when recording starts.
