To configure the keyboard via the standard functions addition, the Razer Synapse software requires its own email address and Internet access. After one has created an account, it is possible (online) and pretty much all set. Keys can be assigned for example, so disable the Windows key as the favorite game and load the appropriate macros been started depending on application specific profiles. The software has an offline mode that can also activate manually - so nobody has to be afraid of being spied on.
Positives:
--------
+ The writing feeling is incredible. Precise buttons and audio feedback via key-click is super. You can type very quickly and accurately on this keyboard.
+ The distance between the buttons is just right.
+ The build quality is at a high level, everything can look very sophisticated. The new matte plastic is much less susceptible to dirt than its predecessor "Ultimate" with blue lighting and high-gloss plastic.
+ The backlight can be in very small steps (30+) set, each key is individually illuminated. Looks very consistent.
+ The software is easy to use, quick to install and has an offline mode. No problems under Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64.
+ Very large and meaningful functionality Razer Synapse 2.0
+ The keyboard works with full functionality even on a KVM switch (more on that below tips).
+ Looping audio channels are available.
+ Additional USB port is available.
Neutral:
--------
~ The shift special characters (ยง $% &%, etc) are not illuminated.
~ The connection cable is very robust, but not very flexible. 10cm free distance backwards should have one.
~ No anclipbare palm rest. Do I need personally do not, or I do anyway gone forever.
~ The macro keys are on the left side. You have to settle briefly, but then there is no problem.
~ The keyboard is significantly louder than normal, non-mechanical keyboards. But who represents itself as a keyboard into Cubicle :-)
Negatives:
--------
- The additional USB port is mounted on the right, for me just the wrong side. Since the mouse!
Tips:
--------
+ With Windows 7 with enabled User Account Control (UAC) the software by right click -> install "Run as administrator".
+ The keyboard works without limitation the KVM switch "Aten CS682 USB 2.0 DVI KVM Switch 2-port". For this first via "roles -> Enter> roles - -> m" off the mouse emulation, then attach the keyboard to the mouse port of the switch. The mouse comes then to either the keyboard port or even more efficient and better connected to the USB port of the Razor.
+ After successful registration in Razer Synapse 2.0 you can switch to manual (permanent) offline.
