Setting ran smoothly. Complications I could connect the TV with my network, my Entertain receiver Telekom has been detected and can be operated with the TV remote control - very comfortable. Since this is my first "Smart TV", I was very excited about the new possibilities opened up and tried directly a few apps. The YouTube app for example, works well, though it somewhat slow to respond to input. The video option to search the phone or tablet and then play back on your TV, negates this problem, however. Other apps like Amazon Instant Video also work great.
Another advantage of a new TV with WiFi is the ability to stream video over the home network. The Samsung TV also creates this problem. I own a Synology DiskStation, to which the media server is installed. The TV detects the hard drive immediately and reacts quickly to the videos and other media. Playback of a 24 GB HD movie worked without problems, fast forward or jump to a point in the video was also easy. Also playing media of a connected USB hard drive works great. Even formats like MKV be recognized and played.
Now for the really important: The picture. First of all I must say that I do not really date comparison. My Sony was, as I said, five years old, and at this time does technically a lot, but the image of Samsung is for my eyes really great set correctly mind (work for me the settings of softkey from the discussions here at Amazon quite well . Why I explain below). The image is rich in contrast, colorful and clear, especially with the right material. Radiation Blu-ray movies and have great focus, but also HD material of Entertain provides in most cases good to very-good. Also, the Black becomes great and is really black. This can, however, still further down regulate the menu that is me then but too dark and details are lost. The only complaint on screen is the "Dirty Screen Effect", which is just visible at football matches and FIFA on the Playstation. Here are small irregularities in the illumination recognizable, which give the impression that the panel is dirty. This effect, however, really only gets noticed in the grass in football, or in very bright scenes with camera movement. I gesture Avatar in 3D (I'll be still) seen and only once very briefly the effect I noticed. However, just because I've been looking for it. For a TV of this size to achieve a 100% homogeneous illumination, I think, however, also very difficult, if not impossible, therefore I am more than satisfied with the result of Samsung.
Now for 3D: I'm not a fan of active 3D effect with shutter glasses and every opportunity that I had to try this technique has this attitude exacerbated. I have always perceived the flickering of the glasses and the depth effect also lies somehow something to be desired. Yesterday I saw Avatar in 3D and was blown away. The image was clear and sharp and the 3D effect stands out. At first I noticed a slight flickering of the glasses, then I have the lamp, which stands next to the television identified. Then the flickering was gone. Headache I have not received even after a long film like Avatar. I did not think it, but I am looking forward to see more movies in 3D.
Another positive point is the very extensive menu. Here you can really make a lot of settings and adjust the image on the TV's own preferences. I have used as a reference for a first image setting, as mentioned above the contribution of softkey in the discussions and am very happy with the result. Unfortunately, the extensive menu is also very complex and many features are nested deep. . Thus, for example, the game mode: Activated the TV turns off some image calculations, which should minimize the input latency in order to enable this feature, however, you always have to go via the menu -> System -> General - go> Enable game mode. This could have been solved easily.
The however really biggest criticism on the menu and also on TV in general, the image settings of the different input sources: Although you can take the adjusted settings of all sources, however, this option includes only the basic settings such as backlight, contrast, color etc. The far more important options the image as the user-defined color space, skin tones, gamma, etc. However, you have to configure for each input individually. This is a very complex and lengthy process, because these settings are quite complex. For 3D mode, these settings have to then also again make. Very, very annoying. Incredibly, however, that the adjustment of the 10p White Balance, which is an excellent way to configure the image completely according to his ideas, every time, once you get used to the game mode or a different picture setting is reset. This function is therefore useless, because I do not feel like this constantly reconfigure, just because I played short times Playstation. Unfortunately my Samsung Support has confirmed this reset and I was wondering why you can not save this setting ?! Therefore, I find the attitude of softkey very helpful, as this is a good picture, without resorting to the 10p White Balance.
Apart of a small and a big point of criticism television is really top and has a great price / performance ratio. I am very satisfied with the purchase and look forward every time I turn on him. I can only recommend this product.
