DC again anticipate, was also mentioned by another reviewer:
The on / off switch (button) the monitor is located directly below the "Acer" logo and lights light up blue when the unit is turned on. You push from bottom to top on the button.
Although I am technophile, but I've taken some time to find the keys and thought the unit was broken.
The monitor is a perfect device for the price (169 Euro on 22.03.2013). Sure, it is not a high-end graphics monitor for EURO 1000 and it should not be.
The lighting in my model is uniform. The settings are very diverse and can even calibrate to. The color fidelity is very uniform over the entire brightness curve in my model. The color space is limited, which is why he does not lend itself so well for high-quality image / photo editing. The contrast and black level is not great, but ok.
The default settings are selected, however, far too high. The brightness should be set not too high in a lighted room in a "normal" office work, otherwise it strained my eyes to very strong.
On my machine I got good results with the following settings (yields about 140 cd / m² brightness and clean resolution of the brightness values):
Brightness: 40
Contrast: 40
Color Temperature: User / User
In very bright conditions, you can increase the brightness. The contrast I would not set up, otherwise very bright shades are no longer distinguishable and "clogging".
As the color temperature (color temp) I "USER" is selected, which already came up in the basic setting is very close to the standard values. Please were a few minutes, until the eyes have become accustomed. Most users adjust the color temperature to "cold" a (bluish). Means I have the monitor calibrated spectroradiometer, but had to make very small adjustments, so that makes no sense to specify.
On the graphics card I would not turn as much as this ensures information loss and usually unwanted image artifacts leads (banding, bleeding etc.), because the graphics card has to convert and thus lead to rounding errors.
Only the somewhat limited viewing angle is not so nice if you very close in front of the monitor is sitting, but it was okay. and it can work well with it. With such a low-cost LCD panel with LED backlight can not expect high-end performance.
I have several prof. Monitors, and high-end graphics monitors with HW calibration (NEC PA271, PA30, etc.). Only cost these monitors partially 10 times.
Also, a height adjustment would make the monitor much more expensive, if necessary you simply insert a few magazines or books underneath. The monitor is very easy.
Conclusion:
A clean working monitor, which is obviously also very well suited to play. Very light and very low power consumption. For the price you wanted a hammer.
