The device works very easy - easier and more convenient as it gets! Up component, press the button, a short wait until the component combines - done. This applies to the first box, and it is even more true for adding additional components as in my case recently of Play:. 1
My personal Sonos start was, as I had worried me a Airplay speakers, and was annoyed about the same smooth operability. The promised feature "Internet radio stream directly" has virtually does not work, the app was a nightmare, except airplay that part was really nothing really good. In parallel, a friend bought a Sonos and showed me the associated app. The Airplay speaker was, thank God, only a few days old so that I could send it back - in its place came the first Sonos Play: 3 into the house.
The great advantage of Sonos: the music comes not necessarily from the IPhone / Pad / ... but the boxes they get themselves off at the source. The source can be Internet Radio, or own UPnP server (z. B. the Fritz box), or one of many Web services (Simfy, Spotify, Amazon Cloud, .......). The IPhone / Pad / Android mobile phone is used only as a remote control to tell the device what it is to play. Then you can turn it off or use it for anything else. Since the settings directly in the Sonos system are stored, have all "remote" to the same level, that is, when I turn the music on IPad louder, my wife looks on Android the volume controls to move and it may turn quiet again ...
Alternatively, you can take the Sonos app also play music directly from your iPad - just as I said, Airplay does not currently work.
Devices and streams can be combined, you can hear the same on all boxes - which is then played back at the same time - or at Box1 music from the radio and music box 2 of Spotify (Spotify works, however unfortunately only with Premium account).
The Sonos automatically adjusts itself to the UPnP Server and holds its own music index so that searching the own music collection compared to all the apps I've ever tested frantic quick.
The advantages more than compensate, in my view, the above-mentioned disadvantages by far! Airplay is z. B. a feature that no longer missing me now.
Oh - a few words to Play: 1 to which it was supposed to go:
In direct comparison with hearing the Play: 3 you can hear the difference! The Play: 1 is not even half the size - it would be bad if it would not make any noticeable.
In "stand-alone" operation I was slightly stunned first thing that comes out of the small part of that powerful sound! I think a lot more can be from as little volume rausholen not easy! So please do not with the man-sized boxes for 5-digit euro amounts compare - because you can not get close to small! But to start the morning in the bathroom in a good mood, it's enough, especially as the play: 1 should be "damp-proof" - suitable therefore for use in the bathroom (but not waterproof - respect - and my own experience in this area is only a few days old !)
The little acts valent, it is relatively difficult and I find them (in white) ultra chic! The power cord is plugged from below into the box, and can be laid / hide so well. One could thus quite the little set in the room even in the middle - which I have not done ...
Two Little can be incidentally switch to a stereo pair together - although costs twice as much, but also makes more fun :)!
Yes, I would still be a 6 star if it was going for ...
