Moreover, it is also no secret that WATUMBA derives virtually the same creative period as its predecessor (Neppomuk'S VENGEANCE). "The Strangler" for example, has been played on the Neppomuk Tour and originates determines the same sessions, from which also all songs of the previous album have emerged (in the credits of Neppomuk'S REVENGE is the song even mentioned explicitly, although it on said sound carrier no place should find). Amazingly, however, sounds production (mastering, mix) a little way fresher and more alive than just relatively to Neppomuk'S REVENGE ...
And musically WATUMBA is virtually packed with highlights, quite soberly measured at the success of any case not poor EAV chronology. Lyrically, there are, as with all older EAV works anyway nothing to complain about. Now, the songs on the disc:
Even the start with "Neandertal" is perfect - a catchy rock / pop rhythm, adorned by almost unusually hard, cynical lines of text, such as "... Europe is free, Europe is new, except for a small Balkanreiberei ..." or "... Socrates, Plato, Kant and Hegl were in the stock market never known ..." or "... and discipline and order return again, in Germany blows a foreigner home ..." make this track today timeless and unfortunately (still) highly topical. For me one of the best ever EAV compositions ever!
"Jambo", however, makes use of a theme adopted in advance - this is about sex tourism (such as in "Samurai" on the previous panel), only plays all this time in Africa and it's about a woman who on Intimacy Search goes. Musically one is close and authentic on topic off, the refrain sounds hitverdächtig (was also one of the hits on the disc) ...
"The UFOs come" is from excessive alcohol consumption and the fact that you will find pretty and attractive from a certain alcohol limit any "broom". Beautiful song parts (basic melody, Bridge, Chorus) here well together ...
"The Strangler" is as already mentioned a relic from the time the current tour and is about a murderous man pulling the streets at night, but never get to the train. Here's you a little outing in almost jazzy realms (which live but even more clearly to hear is). A very successful, atmospheric piece that fits very well to this album ...
"Hildegard" is about a con man who's only out for money and has presented also consistently interpreted properly.
The B-side of the vinyl disk with "Hip Hop" opened, which makes fun of unimaginative produced computer music funny and musically also counts with the biggest achievements of the band. Ironically, makes you look so a bit about current proffered EAV plates funny, often only remember vile charts imprints. Between songs just mentioned are found repeatedly short (typical for the band) cutscenes, which are partly also very funny and entertaining. Even the cover art knows how to please - all surfers EAV style!
Conclusion: "Neandertal", "Jambo" and "Hip Hop" WATUMBA contains already bred 3 EAV hits and classics that until today none of their charm, their critical sharpness and their musical catchiness (which I do not flat or smooth or like mine) have lost. Also know the other tracks to please - and I, as I said, the whole plate of one of the musical highlights of the band (in addition to love, death & DEVIL and SPITALO FATALO) hold. Just great!
Only the character of the whole plate looks a little strange because of the live interference. However, you can see the EAV in their primordial tradition than rock Kaberettisten (listen eg CAFE PASSE), the disc fits of its layout, the (musically and lyrically and graphically) as the much quoted chalk and cheese!
