Customer Review

... If not the best AOR album ever is Frontiers.

To what the Vorrezensent says about the recording, I can take a stand bad because I do not know the older recording as a young Journey fan. However, I have noticed no huge weaknesses.

But the music: You'd think the album Escape with immortal classics of Adult Oriented Rock (AOR) as Do not Stop Believin 'or Who's crying now would not have been bettered, but this is my opinion succeeded with this sequel album. The provisionally last album (a good ten years later, still Trial by fire episodes) in the classic lineup Neal Schon (lead guitar), Steve Perry (lead vocals), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Ross Valory (bass) and Steve Smith (drums) offers the Journey-typical mix of melodic rock songs and ballads goosebumps, but for me is atmospheric and the Arrangement even a tiny better than its predecessor Escape (which is certainly a matter of taste). The songs have consistently high quality, the creativity in the songwriting here is worthy of all honor. Now a small Review of the songs after school grades:
-Seperate Ways (Worlds Apart): The most successful song of the album, very catchy rock song, in which you have necessarily mitgröhlt the chorus at the first hearing: 1
-Send Her my love: strong ballad (almost more pop than rock) with sparse instrumentation, good vocals of Perry, classic heartbreak tearjerker: 1-
-Chain Reaction: peppy rock number, but to me is a bit too monotonous in the long run: 2
-After The fall: groovy piece of toe-tapping, somewhere between ballad and rock (Journey precisely), I do not know exactly what it is but a little thing I miss in this song: 2
-Faithfully: Typical Journey ballad, Perry is here mainly supported by Cain at the piano, later the others mix more and more one, melodically very beautiful piece with nice text (it comes to the show daily and need as the families deal with it): 1+
-Edge Of the Blade: Friends of rock music, hold on tight, outstanding rock song with a guitar riff in the Smoke on the water only pale with envy, especially other Neal Schon shines here, one of my favorite songs: 1+
-Troubled Child: Not quite so rocky but some keyboard-heavy song that comes along, but just as strong and very atmospheric, highlight here that about 10 sec worn "moooooooon" by Steve Perry: 1+
-Back Talk rock'n'roll rhythm but stresses similar to Chain reaction lacked variety: 3+
-Frontiers: The title track is similar to Troubled child quite atmospheric and well arranged, rousing chorus, as the title piece, incidentally, well chosen because it reflects quite well the style of the album: 2
-Rubicon: Flotter Rocker with a powerful guitar of Schon, rounding off quite fitting: 2-
-Bonustracks: Some pieces of film soundtracks, of which I really just ask the lonely like, the rest is too boring, so get Ask the lonely one 2, the other a 4

There are still a booklet with some nice pictures, but without lyrics.
Overall, great, because creative, well-produced and well-rehearsed by outstanding musicians album that everyone should have a friend of melodic rock.
