Already a first: The best rock album of Friesland long. Born Friese Carlton is one of those indispensable companion of artists like Peter Maffay, Hermann Brood or Manfred Mann and with his guitar he has influenced their sound over the years. Now after years (decades?) Of waiting, he released his solo debut, which he recorded with a little help of his friends in the Dockside Studios in Louisiana. Helped him have among others Gary Moore, Ron Wood, Robert Palmer, Ian McLagan (Small Faces), and The Band musician Levon Helm and Garth Hudson.
The result is - not to be expected as these seasoned musicians differently - earthy music with influences from the Rolling Stones, Little Feat, New Orleans or reggae. With two exceptions, Carlton and Bertram Engel wrote the songs themselves - Tom Petty's "God`s Gift To Man" and Lowell George's "Long Distance Love". That's rock'n'roll as it is fun. Polycyclic guitar riffs, magnificent sing along choruses, folk deposits - all paired with an unmistakable enthusiasm gives us this album while listening to a really good time.
