In the small network I created at home, there are two computers with Ubuntu Linux and, mine, Windows 7. Of course, Windows has recognized the NAS immediately. But, to my amazement, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and 14.04 LTS too. To ensure ease of Ubuntu users, just use the Windows Share virtual folder (.smb) to create an immediate connection to the Public portion AND the private area (with login and password). How is detailed on the Ubuntu forums. Now, instead of everything transported by USB, the files you want to share are available immediately. The dream!
