IF ONLY FOR A NIGHT opens the album with a storm of thunderous percussion, a wonderful building and a more wonderful melody make a right at the first song back breathlessly. Florence's voice, carried by the orchestra slides at the end of a chorus away.
SHAKE IT OUT. The first single, a powerful near-perfect ballad, with shattering drums and wonderful organs.
WHAT THE WATER GAVE ME is a music become Ode about the suicide of Virginia Woolf. Melodramatic and electrifying guitars.
Never Let Me Go invokes the spirits of the blessed This Mortal Coil forth what already revealed everything about his quality.
BREAKING DOWN is the easiest built song on the album, light, trendy and very catchy. Florence experimenting with her voice, dark and cramped she comes. An absolute highlight.
LOVER TO LOVER. Very soulful, a deep bow in front of Motown sound of the 60s. Some artists (evil, who now thinks of Duffy here ;-) make it two full albums, Fr. Welch enough to a single brilliant song.
NO LIGHT, NO LIGHT. In this song, I had to listen twice. Does the iPod accidentally dazwischengeshuffelt a song of great Kate Bush? ;-). Agitating strings and galloping drums are driving the song, a highlight.
Seven Devils. A striking piano theme running through this mystical, gloomy 5 minute song. Very close as possible.
Heartlines is reacted in music dream. Mermaids fight pirates, the tribals come from the neighboring island. Lyrics and music go hand in hand and blend into something very special.
SPECTRUM leaves a little known paths. Club Beats and with views over the Atlantic a little R & B, but also this will break new ground sovereign readily.
ALL THIS HEAVEN TOO has the most beautiful texts of the album. Epic complains Florence on the insufficiency of language to capture the true miracles and describe. "All my stumbling phrases never amounted to anything worth this feeling." Goose bumps!
LEAVE MY BODY. Grandeur and epic ending the album. A great anthem with a strong shot Gospel. The song sounds like. As a guy in the cinema for a good movie, if you like to sit still for a few minutes.
At one point, it says, 'All the ghost come out to play' and that happens here also. Older generation (like me ;-) come immediately to mind some ghost, Kate Bush, of course, Siouxsie and Liz Fraser with Mortal Coil. Who likes stereotyped music is wrong here. Musical boundaries knows this album as I said not. Absolutely fascinating, however, as it is closed in spite Abwechselungsreichigkeit. Florence Welch is on the way to something very huge and we should be grateful to be able to participate in it.
