I've gotten the Fitbit Tracker and the Fuelband tested next to the UP. Meanwhile, I use (unfortunately) only the Fuelband.
The Fitbit continues to be used in the family, the UP was finally exchanged - the reasons I try to describe below.
================================
I had just got to the UP - mainly because of the sleep phase alarm clock function. Unfortunately, I was soon disillusioned. But first time to the beginning:
The device is packaged and send the processing can be quite impressive; in black color it looks even halfway normal, so you could wear it in everyday life. Since here, however, little value has (eg. No clock) it wandered with me quickly to the sports stuff, most recently on the nightstand.
Waived because the provider unfortunately on Bluetooth (or other wireless technology), the synchronization (and establishment) by infecting a smartphone / tablet; in my case, the use with an iPhone. 5
Initially everything went still good; the data collection was reasonably accurate as well as the FitBit and Fuelband. Ultimately, all equipment which eg. The mileage terms not 100% accurate, but they are "equally inaccurate" so you his athletic / active and identify its rather unsporting / inactive days can.
NOTE:
All devices evaluate the active steering of a vehicle as a movement; especially car rides can this lead to incorrect results. Only the Fitbit Tracker (if used in the case) does not generate distortions.
The awaited Schlafphasenweckfunktion worked remarkably well so I even last it refrained from making a further alarm to hedge; sometimes it was a little early so I woke up about an hour before the wake-up call, but at least I was awakened pleasant - the woman at my side, however, was able to sleep undisturbed.
BUT:
The UP refused unfortunately only last about 1 month service. The first replacement unit kept then at least almost 1 1/2 months. The 2 less than two weeks.
Meanwhile, I've buying undone and dispense with further disappointment. Are in my circle / were 7 other UP-users; active use of the device with a 3 also complains; only when two acquaintances the device is working properly.
I could find no reason for this in terms of usage - from last two acquaintances without problems of using the alarm, the other not. Similarly, the device also umtauschten in the known end.
Some among "power users" were others used it rather restrained. I guess this simply an unfortunately poor quality during production.
The battery life differs significantly from the budgeted; Ultimately, I had to store about every 4 days the unit. I suspect the vibration function behind the increased consumption.
Benefits:
+ Easy
+ Waterproof
+ Many functions
+ Sleep.Phase.Alarm.Clock
Disadvantages:
- High rate of defective devices commercially
-. Additional functions such as food diary are very cumbersome
- Operation tw. very awkward
- No clock
- Battery life much shorter than stated

Compare FitBit:
Unlike the FitBit the UP is chic in my eyes elegant /. As for the pure function, both devices are the same; While the UP has a few more features, but not the one (I) would miss.
Compare Nike Fuelband:
The device on which I have remained ultimately depend. Although I premise here Sleep.Phase.Alarm.Clock, but otherwise convinced all along the line!
It is simple and elegant; Ignorant see it best a simple black bracelet so you can even carry on the work.
According to the manufacturer, it is not "waterproof" but at least repellent; also a shower stand it if I forget to take off times.
Shop I have it only once a week and I can sync easily pull it off via Bluetooth without it.
Also great: it displays the current time and simply inform me of the current day's destination (a little more complicated when UP).
Ultimately, offers me the Fuelband all the features I want (activity measurement & Time and approximate I was as active).
TIP:
The Fuelband shows the activity in "Fuelpoints" - once you have it just once in a day put where you are very active (pleased with himself) and then look what came of the day around here at the end; no matter how accurate or inaccurate, it may be in terms of kilometers (compared with a GPS tracker) -> the Fuelpoints it easier immensely assess how active they were ultimately but then; comfortably and without assessment of kilometer information :)
