"The werewolves of Mirkwood" is a great game for those who would like to also play times in really big round - among seven people are too little, it is really interesting only from a group of ten or more players.
The gameplay is not all that difficult, although terribly confusing instructions makes it hard at first to understand the flow of the game. So here's a brief description:

A player is declared the director. This is now dealt to each remaining player from character cards. This shall be secret and the other players are not shown. Each player therefore gets a task that may be less helpful and play a decisive sometimes more, sometimes.

First, there is the werewolf map: Who's a werewolf, the game goal is to kill all the other villagers. All the other players have the goal to kill the werewolves so again is peace in Mirkwood. Therefore, there is just still the villagers. These can be simple people, or special gifts and abilities have (see below). Now the players still choose a captain who will lead them, if there is time disputes. Then the game is already in the first round:

The GM says that it is goes to sleep in Mirkwood and the village night. So all players close their eyes. Now the director of the series can go about their nightly bustle after a couple of villagers. So the player with the character map of Seer may now open your eyes and point to a teammate. Charte whose character is shown the prophetess, then she goes back to sleep. Awakening the werewolves, some yourself by show of hands, which players they bite, and then fall asleep again. Is the witch as well, you can now wake up and gets shown by the GM, who was bitten. You can either cure the character, or even poison someone - per game she has this ability but only once! She also falls asleep again. So it goes on, the more special characters in the game are, the longer the night phase.

Finally, the new tag lets players all wake up and announce which player the night might not have survived. This player reveals his character card and must only watch. And now the game goes first in the hot phase: Who's a werewolf, he that hath a villager on his conscience? The players argue now and must nominate someone who seems suspicious to them. Why does player X nothing - he does not want to stand out? And Player B discussed so passionately against player A, but that he wants to divert attention from his own guilt. But Player B also takes player X in protection. Plug the two as werewolves under a blanket? Finally, coordinated, who kill the villagers. If there is a tie, the captain allowed his voice double throw into the pot - or he gets by until the stalemate produced. The seer can also reveal, of course, that it has undergone in the night, if someone is guilty or innocent. But when it reveals itself, they risk being killed by the werewolves at night stage ... the village has agreed, the slain player shows his character card and is also out of the game. And it starts a new night phase. Again, the seer get information, the werewolves bite a teammate, the witch decides on their medicinal and poisonous potions ...

It exists thanks to the different characters to discover a lot of variety. The game ends when either the werewolves have done all the villagers, or all werewolves were killed. A stalemate is possible only if the final two players are a werewolf and a villager.

Thanks to the extension, there are two new ways to win the game: you play with Armor, so can this on the first night, two characters to a pair. Dies of a, so the other breaks the heart and he died, so they need to look after each other. You win if you are the last remaining characters, even if a villager and a werewolf is. Exciting !!!
If you play with the flute player, this is cooking his own soup and enchants every night two players. If he manages to enchant all before being killed himself, he wins!

So much for the running of the game. Sounds a lot, but if you two characters (and seer witch example) begins with a round of eight players, you can quickly get used to the gameplay and also to try gradually other characters.

We liked our laps that it also makes the victim a lot of fun to watch the other! Who died, that person may no longer have a say, but it does so at night the opportunity to speak to pursue the beyond of everything that happens at night. What we have laughed inwardly, because we knew who's a werewolf and totally innocent comes as a flaming Argumentierender player is unfortunately supported by all for a werewolf and was thanks to clever charges collect by a werewolf ALL voices of the villagers against him. But besides that, the game is simply funny if, for example. as an argument is: "He is in life not a werewolf, which must be the witch - so stupid but no other player would consume the potions here ..."

Important to the team captain but is that it keeps track. For our first time it happened quite that the GM was so focused on his task list that he forgot who has not indeed survived the night - and because we each round had a new director, but this is happening actually three times, we take since a small notepad to the team captain. It can sometimes become confusing to simultaneously embark in a great storyteller role, creates the atmosphere, and then even a murder, a healing, another murder, a protected person and two lovers to remember all.

CONCLUSION: werewolves makes for a great round an ingenious game that much more fun than it appears now. Compared to other games that are suitable for large rounds, it is the gameplay simple, extremely communicative and through the characters yet so complex that it's fun again. One does not come so quickly in dispute as privacy, you do not get bored after leaving like in poker or at risk. One needs no dice, no game board, only a few cards - in this anniversary edition are solid cardboard templates. Creativity is also possible, why not design and test their own character? For everyone who seeks something that you can play with more than 6 players, this is an absolute buy recommendation. Only the Instructions could be better structured - they must read completely first, before one understands how the game proceeds.
