The brig - The first prey of new Kapertour is "Walk the Plank", a monstrous, semi-epic piece about the pirates firing favorite cliche. As an opener of the song is quite good, the album is here already fast in drive and the chorus is fun. Not the thickest booty, but a pretty good start, go here 4/5 landlubbers walk the plank.
The frigate - The second track on the loot list is already notorious "drink!". Here Alestorm play their strengths fully and provide one of the best drinking songs of all time. The song is fast, catchy and even fall yet quite original for the issue be appealed. The winking style of the band, it is thanks to them that the song by similarly arranged drinking anthems of other bands apart positively. The commercial Proll image Platt hingegrölter (Be) Trinklieder is negated completely by the fun of the song. 5/5 digging of rum!
The galleon - Arrrr !!! DC on the third day brings the crew on a treasure ship of the Spanish silver fleet! "Magnetic North" is one of the most unusual and best songs Alestorms and a special jewel in the treasure chest. The varied theme song a fateful trip to the magnetic north pole and this surprised and excited with all kinds of style Jump and crisp melodies. Power bottom line 5/5 lost sailors.
The schooner - is not quite as valuable, but definitely bigger "1741", Kaperobjekt number 4. In the epic piece of the siege of Cartaghena by the British in 1741, is sung. The piece like head and shoulders above the similarly mounted "Death Throes ..." from the last album. A beautiful hook can occur a long playing time of the track entertaining than it is. If you follow the text, the way one might think that the attack better for the British fleet went out when he actually did it. After several weeks of siege this occurred specifically at the retreat after sluggish supply and rampant tropical diseases (and of course the Spanish) the army had badly added. Nevertheless, Alestorm conquer 4/5 Spanish bases in the storm.
THE CLIPPERS - The rapid succession song "Mead from Hell" would have us believe that a guy named Fred on the seabed from the honey bees submariner bride the Met from hell. Since the privateer-Triathlon (drunkenness, Seefahren, looting) seems overly processed threads, starts from here unmistakably the range of relevant Seemannsgarns. The sound, however, is not as creative and original as the theme. A typical fast Alestormnummer, perhaps most comparable to "Midget Saw" and still 4/5 bottles worth Höllenmet.
The windjammer - up a notch with a few knots more in bars. Click here now to undead Space Kraken from the future. Sounds funny when it was converted into "Surf Squid Warfare", but the band has pulled out all the stops in the composition. Even at almost a bit silly is this song, therefore, of as heard over other pieces more in the Party in the Pirate Metal division. Humor he makes while listening anyway. Reminds me strangely also somehow to the time-honored "Midget Saw". Anyway, Alestorm surf here successfully 4/5 giant waves.
The caravel - a decent ship, but hardly yield. The song "Quest for Ships" bobs melodically in midfield and also the lyrics tear here not very much out. So there is someone who wants to go to sea, but does not have a ship has. Incredibly, with the amount of text you can describe this state of affairs in a song. Not bad, but nowhere near the brightest flare on the gun deck. The search results unfortunately only 3/5 seaworthy ships.
The raft - What a prey, just to get away with it! A rotten raft with castaways plague has raised the team here! Who remembers the last album, the current at the thought of "Buckfast Power Smash" may still shivers across the quarterdeck. For those that favor the hectic, moronic and pesky strumming was then that may certainly also "Wooden Leg". For everyone else, this song, which consists of 90% from the song title, probably a bigger nuisance than a barrel of moldy biscuit. I for one get here from scurvy listening and forgiving only 1/5 worm-eaten wooden legs.
The liner - hit! With the cover version "Hangover" Alestorm has landed one of the biggest fluke of their privateers career! The original British battleship was taken by surprise and captured, thrown all rhythmic and blue crew overboard and the lame Kahn turned into a drenching of rum and Grogg pirate party! My favorite prey of this trip! Full 5/5 per thousand residual alcohol!
THE RAHSCHONER - The largest among all ever applied ships, but also one of the strangest. "Sunset on the Golden Age" presents itself in the chorus as expected as a farewell to the golden age of Caribbean piracy, in the verses, however, steals one the feeling of being advised mad scientist in a Poetry Slam! Here "Carbonic" or "Luminescence" is exclusively with dubious as misplaced terminology such as "entropy", juggled. As the 11-minute piece with his hook quite the stuff would have had the epic pirate Evergreen, I find it relatively pity that the texts appear to be obviously out of a Dadaist delirium Stephen Hawkings here. Because the scope is also pushing here quite unabashedly the comparison with the "Death Throes ..." to crack down on those of the "Sunset ..." still a Bugsprietlänge is properly what beats with 4/5 bewildered pirates Logbuche.
Dinghies - a handful are here and there on the way back to the port still small, unarmed ships applied, the one as a pirate, although like entraining on that could have been as a listener but can do without. The rum-plugged versions of classic Alestormsongs are very interesting to hear, including the final newcomer times, but the original cannons continue to have the larger caliber. The bonus CD comes in throat cut on only 2/5 drained shanties.
Taking Finally a look at the yield can be can be seen "Sunset on the Golden Age" quite. After a strong breeze at the beginning of the wind force can indeed significantly after, but just after a brief lull in the album then moves towards the end again properly on.
Here it is not a new "Captain Morgan's Revenge", no new "Nancy ..." and no new "Pirate Song" with this. But as a veteran you are anyway always think that everything was better. And what also makes me look a little wistfully at the old pirates times Alestorms, is the fact that the issue of "piracy" in the new songs rather plays a minor role. "Walk the Plank" is concerned the only song with the beloved clichés of privateering. "1741" runs after all the British Navy and two drinking songs are just for compulsory repertoire. But the rest of the songs but has rather abstract to absurd about. Melodic offer Alestorm with the new album one of their best performances, thematically but I too often feel they have taken with Pirate Metal dealing with Metal Clown, which is even to me sometimes too silly. Clearly, we must sail out as a team sometimes from its bay, but you should still be sure to stay with the ship in its own fleet. Just as a pirate, you can get away with a few faxes here and there, but you should also stand firmly with both feet on the planks. One can sail a few Schlenker to outlying atolls also quite, provided care is taken the original course not lose sight of. And instead of more meaningless allegories now follows the ...
CONCLUSION:
Above-average album with strong bow, solid rear and a sagging amidships. (Well, this one still ...)
Unconditional recommendation for all Alestormfans and anyone who spaßigem genre Metal with party attitude can see something.
Dogmatists an "important and serious" Metals and other landlubbers was rather discouraged Heuer.
