In the tropics it is quite early and suddenly dark. Indian sidewalks with numerous traps and pitfalls carry a high potential abzuleben unexpectedly and quickly. I've seen holes that were just over 3 m deep (!). Could be taken as literally "disappear". Then there's thousands of cow dung and other harassment ...
A reliable and light lamp is advisable.
It was not so important for our purposes to have lamps, which can still be read signs at 200 meters. The matching for us, however, lamps should illuminate the way home as wide and bright and make it possible sometimes to flood in passing a yard with light. Easy to check whether not somewhere lurks a bad-tempered dog. And precisely for this flashlight is perfect.
But first things first:
Our 2 lamps were delivered in cardboard boxes. Other parts (seals, switches, etc.) were not there.
When unpacking immediately noticed that the lamps are made in an outstanding quality. The threads were clean cut and greased, the essential points were provided with sealing rings, the aluminum case looked very classy, grip and quality for the price. Nothing seemed cheap, was wrong or wiggled or was too loose or too tight. The flashlight is equipped with only 1 AA battery! Advantage: These batteries are really available anywhere on the planet. I myself use batteries, for example, or Eneloops Ansmann High Capacity. Thus the lamp skin and neat light out, I'd say there are around 100 lm. The mentioned 300 lm are imho a fantasy value, but at the price I see times studiously over it ...
Another advantage of the lamp next to the very low-cost lighting with standard batteries or rechargeable batteries is the fact that there is only the mode ON / OFF. The whole fuss with annoying Clicking through different modes with SOS, strobe, etc. fall. Here entirely of what I feel to be extremely positive, because it simplifies the handling of the constant switching on / off enormously. The integrated "focus mode" (let's call it so) is very practical. If one pushes in the lamp head in the longitudinal direction, one gets a wide, bright illumination at close range. When pulling out the lamp head can illuminate distant objects fine. I use this feature, for example, to point to objects, signs and the like. On the other side of the street.
The promised water tightness of the lamp, I think this is a rumor. When sinking in a pool the lamp in my opinion, would be running full. A solid splash protection is, however, quite given, for example, we were several times when monsoon rains on the way, it is the little marvel can not impress. Due to the amazing smallness, the flashlight can really take over and everywhere. It is downright amazed at the very first contact, so phenomenally small is this lamp. The end cap of rubber is robust. We have many hundreds of times the lights on or off, and the switch locked as crisp as on the first day. With 1 Battery / Battery 1 will be approximately 2 weeks cope with daily use. Then the brightness decreases significantly. New battery in and on it goes!
Conclusion: From us, there is a strong buy recommendation and the full 5 points for the superior price / performance ratio and the convincing quality. We are still a few lamps reorder for their own use and as an original gift.
