Just like stupor and tremors and Metaphysics of tubes, I had a lot of fun reading this story that reads quickly and describes the characters and their actions according to the essential (no unnecessary details on the wardrobe), but also to discover and recognize aspects of Japanese life that I have been fortunate to experience in my life, having worked alongside Japanese several months. Living for interaction by walking subtlety reports, rather contradictory and hypocritical formalities, and a very formal hierarchical side.
But above all is the opportunity to discover another aspect of Japanese life of this unorthodox writer I am always delighted to see that it publishes annually. Working method which earned him quite harsh criticism from some who feel his prolific annual publication as an attack that demeans their definition of copyright to that of an apple tree. Which in the case of Amélie Nothomb is not so shocking to me because when you think that the mangaka Osamu Tezuka produced and published several times a week dozens of BD boards while making animated films, I tell myself that occur once a year is not surprising. And if people have the chance to publish and tell something, so do instead of procrastinating, what some artists often delight to do unfortunately.
But we love it or hate it, Amélie Nothomb leaves no one indifferent and remains an important author of Francophone literature. For school or pleasure, Nothomb reading remains a gift.
