To Tulsa and Back is not brilliant, but still very strong album, at the JJ Cale us as always shows can be as musically diverse and varied the Blues. Time with the violin, sometimes with horn section, sometimes more groovy-funky, sometimes more jazzy. But still remains the Blues. Half of the songs he even plays all instruments himself. The 5 star songs are all to be found in succession: Stone River (great chorus line and good acoustic guitar), The Problem (madness piano solo) and Homeless (beautiful melody), which settle in the quality of the other songs in terms of melody, guitar and piano solo. Among the highlights of the album and the gentle, for JJ Cale yet very melodic Fancy Dancer, the driving One Step and Blues for Mama include (beautiful guitar solo). For JJ Cale typical and good songs are My Gal, Chain of love (great Pianoriff), New Lover, Rio (nice horn section) and the jazzy These Blues. Less like me but Motormouth (a fast down Gera selter Song) and at the beginning with the banjo so promising sounding Another Song. Perhaps it would have been better if JJ Cale would draufgepackt as on previous panels only ten songs. In the above six very strong songs, which are fitted with these specific moments and ideas and special song line and trigger a bluesy mood in one, your heart beats faster and make the album a must have. With JJ Cale, there is only good and very good, as this man writes no really bad song. JJ Cale's To Tulsa and Back Blues is pure, though varied, but a surprising innovation in his style of music is not to be expected. JJ Cale remains himself and true to his style and is still continuously for good music.
