Readers are judges. My judgment is made. I read it three times in my life, from the first to the last page. The first time was an absolute shock and initiation. I had twenty years. The second time, thinking that magic would operate more, it was the opportunity to check that I was wrong: it operated more than ever. I was 35. I reread it a few weeks ago. Not only the magic is still there (maybe even more vivid than the first and the second time!), But this text I thought so "timeless" won, to my surprise, a topical connotation the decomposition of the worlds and the rising dangers ... Today I am 51 years old and it is obvious to me: "The shore Syrtes" is for me the most beautiful book of all time.
