These boxes are invaluable to convert an internal hard drive SATA 2.5 "hard drive into a portable for additional storage and also to restore access to data in case of computer failure. This new model, with support of UASP, theoretically offering blazing speeds up 5GOps. In practice this will depend on your setup and connected equipment, but the specifications are certainly impressive, and this box uses a USB interface peak 3.0. I have a very old laptop, ready to demolition, so I was happy to receive this housing that allowed me to reuse my old hard drive.
The lightweight hard plastic case has a USB port, a small blue LED indicating the activity, and a power input of 5V (although when connected via USB, no additional power supply needed). Also provided is a flexible USB cable (with connector Micro B) and an optional foam pad to stabilize a thinner 9.5mm disc. No instructions because the installation is very simple: the hood opens in the direction of the arrow on the top. You place a HDD inside, aligning the connectors, replace the cover and connect the FE2006 to your computer with the USB cable (only downside: the cover is not super easy to remove). No tools or drivers, and USB 3.0 is backward compatible with older versions. In fact, the hardest part for me was to find a Torx screwdriver to open my old laptop and remove the hard drive!
In my tests, this case delivered impressive speeds for the operations of reading and writing, and of course a better performance with my recent laptop with Win 8.1 from my old computer running Vista. It is designed to go into standby mode after 30 minutes of inactivity, but can be started by accessing it. This product has excellent reviews from all sites of "techno" and, in my opinion, the praise is well deserved.
